Eritrea Football: A Symbol of Excellence!
It’s truly exciting to see a significant number of Eritrean professionals making their mark in Europe’s top football leagues. They are carving out their identities and making an impact on the sport. The technical staff of the Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF) has a challenging task ahead as they prepare to select the best 25 players from a large pool of professionals. Eritrea, both from within the country and from the diaspora, boasts an impressive number of skilled players. One standout player is Jozef Misghina, who grew up in the Ajax Amsterdam Academy and has recently signed a new professional contract with De Graafschap. He has travelled to join the national team in Asmara. The Eritrean National Team is currently engaged in intensive training sessions and discussions, as well as tours of the country's historical sites. Their first game is scheduled for 23 September 2026 against Kenya.

The Eritrea National Football Team has joyfully arrived in Asmara to prepare for the AFCON 2027 Group Stage (D) matches! Their first game is scheduled for September 23 against Kenya, followed by a match against South Africa on September 27. Additional matches include a game against Guinea on November 11 and another on November 15. The team will also face Kenya again on March 24, 2027, and conclude the group stage against South Africa on March 28, 2027. Mr Paulos Woldehaimanot, the President of the Eritrean National Football Federation (ENFF), held a press conference in Asmara to discuss the preparations for the Eritrean National Football Team. The National Team is looking exceptionally strong, boasting a wealth of talent across all positions! With new players joining the ranks, the head coach and his dedicated staff are eagerly finalising the squad selection.
