Not having Slaten sucks. Going all in on pitching and defense and having one of the setup men you make your team rely on signed for $1M in spring training is gross.

Literally dont get your point im just saying its a reason his stuff was down this week. Randy johnson wasnt pitching in boston in april. CC was barely hitting 90 by 2012 after an ungodly amount of captain crunch. You cant compare anything from a previous era to current era, in my opinion.

@P00DS @tweets20201 Randy Johnson threw more pitches per start and threw harder and did it well into his 40s. CC was also a 95-96 mph guy for a solid decade. We have decades of evidence that hard throwing pitchers won't fall apart throwing 100+ pitches.

Every Crochet pitch is down 1.2+ mph, only 3 whiffs on 24 swings, 8 hard-hit balls, 3 barrels, 2 homers, 3 walks, and a HBP. Holy fuck.

Pitchers put way more toll on their bodies and arms in current day baseball than they ever did during CC’s era….you can’t throw 94 anymore and get away with it. He was a beast but it’s just not a good comp. Also my comment was just that pitching 107 pitches in 40 degrees in early april could be a reason his velo is down tonight and why he got crushed.
