Any birders got any interest in European woodpeckers? We have a little challenge we need some help with at @SoundApproachUK regarding identifying woodpeckers - if you’d like to have a go, please let me know! It’s all anonymous, we’re just doing some impromptu research. Thanks ☺️

@Pennyshotbirdin Do you mind if I borrow your Eastern Crowned Warbler photo, please for an article on birding in Shetland in my local bird club newsletter? Full credit will be given, obviously.

@01000011S Wow! Might have to go back for seconds if it sticks. Happy with my views, but these shots are next level.

Shetland 24 - the gift that keeps on giving. Great find by these guys and a bogey bird unblocked for me 😀🍷

The rares still flowing on Shetland with Paddyfield Warbler and Lanceolated Warbler hanging on today after me not being able to get on Unst y'day. A nice padder with a 3rd winter Glaucous Gull. Lancy photo in your honour @01000011S

Eastern Crowned Warbler at Turriefield, Sandness, Shetland yesterday. A blurred record shot but with its incredibly illusive behaviour I was pleased to get anything! My 2nd (2009) Shetland’s 1st! Big crowds too for Shetland! #Shetland

Apart from the tricky mega in the form of the Eastern Crowned Warbler, Shetland so far has been notable for amazing views of rare/scarce species - Pechora Pipit, RCS, Little Bunting, Barred Warbler

Great views of the Hoopoe at Stamford Bridge, feeding on front lawns this afternoon. Shows well when given space and allowed to approach you, quickly takes flight when walked towards
