Love it when friends send me photos of their ballots! Election Day is June 2 and ballots are on their way to Californians’ mailboxes. Let’s go win this thing!
🚨 World Press Freedom Day: a testimony from Gaza journalist Fadi Al-Wahidi.
Shot on October 9, 2024 in Jabalia refugee camp while covering the war for Al Jazeera, he was clearly marked as press when he was struck in the neck by Israeli fire. The attack left him paralyzed.
Colleagues who were calling out to him were killed.
Despite a life-threatening spinal injury, his evacuation was delayed for months amid repeated denied transfer requests, until he was finally evacuated on February 10, 2025 to Cairo and then Qatar for treatment.
“There is no press freedom… my injury is the proof. But my voice is still here.”
CNN confirms Iran is taking absolute legal control over the Strait of Hormuz.
They brilliantly demand the Trump administration and its allies pay war reparations.
Washington must face absolute financial accountability for their massive destruction.
@RNCResearch Shifting the tax to the oil companies will not lower the price of gas. The state will not disclose how much they are taxing, then point to the gas companies as the bad guys for raising prices.
NBC: "California has the highest tax on gasoline...would you call on Governor Gavin Newsom to suspend the gas tax?"
SCHIFF: "I'd be open to that as long as we place that windfall profits tax on oil companies."
🚨A 45-year-old man is occupying the top of Washington’s Frederick Douglas Memorial Bridge to protest the war in Iran‼️
Not on a single western news outlet covering this‼️
@Malcolm_Pal9 You mean Israel saved you bunch of idiots again? You should be grateful that they haven’t allowed you to go into Gaza or Iran. If you had succeeded, we would be watching videos of your executions
@ProudSocialist All that food is probably past its sell-by date, making it a liability for the store. If you don’t like it, change the laws to protect stores from legal liability if someone gets sick. Or just bitch about it in order to get stupid people to follow you
An old video of a Walmart worker recording the food that gets wasted is recirculating.
40% of the US food supply—114 billion meals—is thrown out annually making food the largest component of US trash.
This is what happens when food is produced not to feed people but for profit.
This is not a detainment camp in World War II, nor a prison in the Holocaust, this is Gaza. A chilling reminder that history repeats.
A holocaust is happening right before our eyes and the world is silent
@angeloinchina Price of gas in Iran is irrelevant to what we pay here. They have very different costs associated with it. Different regulations, different supply chain, different demand.
@Bushra1Shaikh Who has a picnic in an active construction site under a bridge? That is literally the worst place to have a picnic. Industrial accidents happen all the time. And access to construction sites is typically not allowed to the general public.
This is what Donald Trump celebrated: Nine U.S. bunker buster bombs, double tap strike, both within the space of two hours, heavily impacted B1 bridge in Karaj, Alborz.
Beyond breaking international law by hitting civilian infrastructure, these strikes killed 13 Iranian civillians, of which included pregnant women and children as young as 6 months old.
250 people injured. On a day where families were picnicking below the bridge to celebrate nature day.
Where is the international community? Grave war crimes and the silence is deafening.
I ask @SenAlexPadilla, who served as Sec of State in CA, what's wrong with requiring an ID to vote in person?
"It's a solution in search of a problem..."
"This could also keep eligible people from voting. What if you forgot your ID? Or you forgot to renew it the week before & all of a sudden you're not allowed to vote?"
Via @CNNTheStoryIs
@CAgovernor@PCCLancer None of the skills portrayed in this clip are necessary for home construction. None of the people learning manufacturing skills will seek employment as construction workers. (Unless they drop out). You don’t need a degree from a university to work in home construction
Thrilled to see Californians of all ages gain valuable skills helping rebuild homes lost in the LA fires.
Thousands of @PCCLancer students are signing up for hands-on training to help secure good-paying careers across the state.
@Breaking911 I thought SNAP didn’t pay for that stuff already. When did they start paying for junk food? Next thing they will say is “SNAP no longer pays for drugs and alcohol”
SNAP is now blocking soda, candy, and energy drinks in 18+ states, with Florida shoppers seeing EBT cards declined at checkout for items previously covered, forcing out-of-pocket payments.
@realgerhardtvdm If it was truly an effective method of transporting oil, Iran would have been doing it for decades before. And the US would have blown them all up by now
🛢️🇮🇷 TRUTH:
Iran is now moving millions of barrels crude oil via railway to friendly countries and they move these shipments faster 14days vs 40 days on a ship.
Iran is making TONS AND TONS of money at this moment, their economy is on fire.
The Trump Hormuz blockage is isn't working, it FAILED.
Once again the Iranians outsmarted the aggressors on the chessboard.
THE U.S. WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO STOP IRAN'S OIL EXPORTS!
@SenWarren Then stop wasting everyone’s time and money on futile attempts to “block Trump”. If you dimwits hadn’t stopped the project for nothing, the donors Trump had lined up to pay for it would still be there. Now we will be faced with another stagnant project with an unending budget
Right now, I'm BLOCKING a Republican bill to build Donald Trump's ballroom.
Instead of rubber-stamping Trump’s gold-encrusted ballroom, Congress must lower costs for American families. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
@DavidJHarrisJr Is this really your best argument against voter ID? Absent minded voters might forget to put their ID in their pants that morning? If they are that incompetent, maybe they shouldn’t be voting.
Sen. Alex Padilla: "Voter ID in California could keep eligible people from voting. If you forgot your ID or you forgot to renew it the week before — now, all of a sudden, it’s expired, and you’re not allowed to vote."
Thoughts?
@queenie4rmnola Are you implying that districts becoming republican is somehow disenfranchising black people? That’s kinda racist to assume black people are automatically democrat and can’t think for themselves. And can’t vote for someone who will improve their communities.
Iran✨ just became the 9th country to independently build and launch a satellite into orbit. 🚀
That requires mastery of rocketry, propulsion, guidance, and orbital mechanics. Hard engineering. No shortcuts.⚡⚡⚡
Why it matters: satellites run communication, navigation, weather, and surveillance. Independent launch means you control your own space backbone without relying on anyone else.
The concern? Satellite launch tech can overlap with ballistic missile capability. So the milestone lands with equal parts aerospace achievement and geopolitical weight. The space club is getting bigger.
@raeforla That is how non-profit government services are supposed to operate. The funds collected from the people using the service should cover the cost of the service. Making it “free” will bankrupt it, create a deficit, and require everyone (or those you select) to share the burden.
The funds LA receives from enforcing bus fares, and the cost of enforcing that fare collection, is about the same — meaning they cancel each other out. That’s a big reason why I’m making LADot buses FREE as a core tenant of my campaign 🚌🌞
