“मातृदेवो भव। पितृदेवो भव।”
The tradition of honoring and seeking blessings from our elders is deeply rooted in our culture, a practice that dates back to the time of Shravan Kumar, whose devotion to his parents has become great. Over 5,000 years ago, Shravan ventured on a sacred pilgrimage, carrying his aged and disabled parents on his shoulders, showcasing the ultimate example of filial piety.
In the spirit of this holy tradition, our “Vadil Vandana” program allowed all participants to honor the yatris by washing their feet and worshipping them as if they were their own parents. This act of reverence, known as ‘Charan Vandana,’ is a profound gesture symbolizing respect, gratitude, and the transfer of blessings. It is believed that by humbling ourselves before our elders, we not only gain their blessings but also strengthen the bonds of love and respect within our community.
The blessings received during this sacred act are thought to bring peace, prosperity, and protection, guiding us on our life’s journey.
