🚨NEW ANALYSIS: Pharma is hiking the prices of rare disease drugs after Medicare protections were weakened in the 2025 Reconciliation Package 🚨 In the first week of January, pharmaceutical companies raised prices on 208 drugs used to treat rare diseases, with over 80% of those hikes exceeding inflation. These hikes come as Congress has weakened Medicare drug price negotiation for rare disease drugs through the ORPHAN Cures Act. For patients like Ginny, who lives with LEMS and relies on Firdapse, her medication would have been eligible for negotiation before the ORPHAN Cures. Now, it is not. Congress removed one of the only tools available to lower the cost of the very drugs she relies on. The ORPHAN Cures Act does not protect patients with rare diseases. It protects pharmaceutical profits. Learn more and take action at P4AD.ORG

Patients For Affordable Drugs has filed its sixth patient-centered amicus brief defending the historic Medicare Negotiation program against Teva Pharmaceuticals’ legal campaign. This marks yet another attempt from the pharmaceutical industry to undermine this critical program, despite the courts rejecting their attempts 16 times.

🚨 NEW ANALYSIS: Pharma is hiking the prices of HIV drugs while lobbying to keep costs high for years to come. 🚨 During the first week of January, Big Pharma raised prices on several HIV meds. Simultaneously, the industry is pushing for harmful bills like the EPIC Act, which would delay Medicare negotiation on most HIV drugs for four additional years. As hundreds of thousands of Americans with HIV are expected to age into Medicare in the coming years, they cannot afford to pay higher prices for their meds or to wait years longer for relief. 🗣️ LAST CALL! The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has extended the deadline to register for public engagement events on the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program to TOMORROW, March 18, 2026. Patients, caregivers, and advocates can share their experiences with the drugs selected for negotiation — or with the conditions those drugs treat. Your perspective can help ensure patient voices are part of the conversation to lower drug prices. If you have experience with a selected drug, a condition it treats, or other treatments for that condition, consider signing up to participate in a virtual patient roundtable or town hall. Reach out to Jesse Aguirre at jesse@p4adnow.org to learn more. For additional information, visit: tinyurl.com/56wpbykm

Emily Grant, a mother of three living with cystic fibrosis and related diabetes, takes 25 prescription pills, eight breathing treatments, and up to six insulin shots every day to stay healthy. Because of the high cost of the medications she relies on, Emily pays $26,000 each year in premiums and out-of-pocket costs. She’s constantly worried about how to save money and whether the medications keeping her alive will become even more expensive. Unfortunately, Emily is not alone. 1 in 3 Americans in the U.S. cannot afford their prescription drugs due to their high cost. Elizabeth M’s medications cost more than $5,700 a month, and while a copay card helped temporarily, she had no transparency into when those funds would run out. “Fortunately, I am able to be on the phone with the insurance company, the drug manufacturer, my doctor’s office, and the pharmacy,” Elizabeth said, comparing it to having a part-time job. Stories like these show the reality that millions of Americans face every day: even with insurance, the cost of prescription drugs is overwhelming. For Kevin Baker, a 23-year-old living with Crohn’s disease, staying healthy depends on a medication that costs more than $6,500 per month. His insurance has refused to pay for the drug at times, leaving him with bills of up to $2,000 out of pocket. These prices aren’t based on what’s fair or sustainable—they’re the result of a system designed to protect profits over patients. “There have been times I have to go without medication that I need just to live day to day,” Kevin shared. It’s time to prioritize patients over industry profits. Read the Epoch Times piece here: theepochtimes.com/article/how-th… Photo Credits to @EpochTimes

Older Americans on fixed incomes are particularly vulnerable to rising prescription costs and yet, Big Pharma has raised their prescription drug prices more than 12% on average since 2006. Seniors deserve to enjoy their golden years instead of worrying how they will afford their drug costs, read @AARP's report to learn more: tinyurl.com/3k9j4jpr

P4AD CEO, Merith Basey, said it best: “Patients need access, and they need innovation.” But, right now, 1 in 3 Americans cannot afford their prescription drugs – because Big Pharma gets to set launch prices as high as they want, with no limits. That’s not a system that works for patients. It’s a system that works for pharmaceutical corporations. Join the movement to change it at P4AD.ORG

“For several patients in our community, TrumpRx prices are the same or even higher than what they currently pay with insurance,” Merith Basey, CEO of Patients For Affordable Drugs, said in a statement to [TAG] STAT. “While continued efforts to lower prescription drug prices are encouraged, this program’s design does not address the root cause of high drug costs in the U.S.: the monopolistic pricing strategies of the pharmaceutical industry that prioritize profits over patients.” Read more here: statnews.com/2026/03/05/tru…

“There were months when we had multiple financial obligations when I would delay refiling my prescription” - P4AD Patient Advocate Judy, a retired nurse living with psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis. Prior to Medicare Negotiation's lower prices, Judy's drug, Enbrel, had a list price of more than $7,000 for a 30-day supply. This meant that Judy and her husband have had to make impossible decisions to afford it. Thanks to Medicare negotiation, Enbrel now costs $2,355 for a 30-day supply (as of January 1, 2026). That’s a 67% discount that will bring some financial relief to Judy and millions of other patients across the United States. To learn more about Medicare Negotiation visit: MedicareNegotiation.org

This year, CMS will negotiate with drug manufacturers for the third time to get lower prices on 15 new, high-cost drugs for patients on Medicare. After two successful rounds of negotiation, this program is not only being successfully implemented, but is actively lowering prices for patients on Medicare. And as negotiations continue in the years ahead, millions more patients stand to benefit! We’ve seen the power of patient advocacy. It’s part of how we helped secure the Medicare negotiation program in the first place. Now, we need people like you to stay in the fight. By sharing a testimony, you’ll help make the strongest possible case for lowering the price of these drugs for people on Medicare, which could eventually lower the price for everyone. If you or someone you know is struggling with the high price of any of the 15 drugs listed above, share your testimony today: actionnetwork.org/forms/base-sto…

According to @Reuters, the median price of prescription drugs has jumped from over $180,000 in 2021 to a staggering $370,000 today! While 1 in 3 Americans are already unable to access their prescription medications due to cost, Big Pharma continues to prioritize profit and greed over patient lives. Learn how we're fighting back at FightPharma.org.
