The PA Senate today unanimously passed SB 730 on Pennsylvania Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST), patient-specific, clinician-signed medical orders regarding end-of-life care. The PCC has long supported this issue and was mentioned today by sponsor Sen. Gene Yaw.

So many untruths coming from critics of school choice about the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. Philly Democrat Jason Dawkins claimed Monday the EITC is used by those who can already afford tuition. Schools I’ve talked to use the money to keep kids in school who CAN’T

PA House Republicans 🇺🇸
Yesterday, House Democrats voted to dismantle one of the most successful school choice programs in the country. Before the vote, Republican Leader Jesse Topper asked Democrats to look at what the EITC program has achieved and to understand what happens if they take it away.

It’s a sad day when every PA House Democrat and three Republicans vote to make it harder for families to access educational opportunities in Pennsylvania. At a time when Pennsylvania families are seeking better options for their children at record numbers, it is especially frustrating to see lawmakers advancing legislation that would restrict access to one of the Commonwealth’s most successful educational scholarship programs.  This past year, 70,000 applied for scholarships and never received them because there was not enough funding available. The natural response should be to help more families, not fewer.  Pennsylvania lawmakers should be helping students and families by expanding educational opportunities, not limiting them. A vote to pass House Bill 2632 is a vote to limit Pennsylvania’s potential and will prevent more families from accessing EITC and OSTC scholarships to get the education that best fits their needs.

The PA House Communications and Technology Committee this morning discussed HB 2006, which would impose safeguards on A-I chatbots, especially concerning suicidal ideation and self-harm. Here Rep. Eric Nelson asked committee Chair Joe Ciresi about state officials’ jurisdiction.

The PA House just passes HB 2632, which is meant to gut the current structure of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. It’s expected to go nowhere in the GOP-controlled Senate. All Dems vote for it and three Republicans : Tom Mehaffie, Joe Hogan and Kathleen Tomlinson.

Legislation in the PA House - HB 2632 - would cut $100 million from Pennsylvania's K-12 scholarship organizations, resulting in 30,000 current private school students losing scholarships.

PA House Republicans 🇺🇸
In a span of a few days, PA House Democrats introduced HB 2632 and rammed it through committee, hoping no one was paying attention. The bill would pull scholarships out from under 30,000 students and the families counting on them.

We hear from the Republican Chair of the PA House Judiciary Committee, Rob Kauffman on the ongoing re-referral saga of SB 9, which would prevent boys from playing girls sports. Mainstream local media across the state has ignored the shell game that continues at the Capitol.

Democrats have been very reluctant, it seems, to speak up in opposition to SB 9, which would prevent boys from playing girls sports. Perhaps they have seen the polls. But Philadelphia Democrat Joe Hohenstein does so here in the PA House Judiciary Committee.
