PA House Republicans have introduced legislation that would suspend the gas tax, but House Democrats refuse to take it up for a vote.
Georgia’s gas tax was suspended. Indiana implemented a gas tax holiday. Utah has reduced its gas tax and Kentucky’s statewide gas tax reduction expired near the beginning of June.

Pennsylvania's future depends on economic growth.
This budget invests in the things that matter, like career and technical education, which will help over 17,000 students waiting for opportunities that lead to family-sustaining jobs. It also avoids the crippling tax increases that would drive jobs, businesses, and families out of our Commonwealth.
We need to keep building on the House Republican pro-growth policies from last year's budget so we can continue to build our economy and create opportunities for the next generation.

Today’s budget is a reasonable compromise. It reins in spending compared to the governor’s original proposal while making meaningful investments in career and technical education, mental health, infrastructure, and public safety.
Just as importantly, it builds on the pro-growth policies we fought for last year that are already delivering results: Stronger revenues, energy reforms, and permitting improvements that have put PA in a better fiscal position than many expected.
PA’s future depends on continuing to grow our economy, attract investment, and create jobs to keep moving the Commonwealth in the right direction.

The House is in a special Sunday session in order to finalize the details of the 2026-27 state budget.
