@azetice They tried to shop it around the streamers and obviously missed the mark. Spending that kind of money on production is wild when you don’t have at least a little bit of your own distribution.

Candidly, no one in tech does this anymore. In fact most angels and VC’s will immediately pass if they’re ever asked and you’re asking non tech people to sign when there’s so little risk of them going after your idea. 1. Speed to market wins. 2. No one is actually going to steel your idea. Of course vibe coding might change the calculus, but you’re still better off building in public in a way that gets MUCH faster feedback and builds a community around your idea.

@JamesonCamp It’s worse than being unsustainable. Those ads kill performance for other important elements and since you don’t control the ad content (aside from a few topical choices) how can an audience trust that you’re building for them.

The reality is that at the CPM rates that beehiiv and kit offer their newsletter publishers Is beyond below what is sustainable to keep the newsletters alive It’s a great business model but, it sure doesn’t work at a $5 CPM on opens Many will fail in next 12 months

I forget the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach that had all of his trainees roll with three partners. Someone more advanced to learn from. Someone at their level to practice with. Someone below their skill level they can teach. The players, coaches and communities that adopt this structure will progress faster and expand their reach.

This is a hill I’ll die on. You won’t get better, no matter how long you drill, no matter how disciplined you are in practice, no matter how many reps you get… without playing better players. I wish this was theory, but it’s lived and proven.
