Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur, has delivered a devastating account of Israeli policy. 'Greater Israel is a project of regional expansion. When said in 2024 what starts in Palestine will not stay in Palestine, two years later it's happening. Torture is not incidental. It has become central to a broader system of violence. It is institutionalized, enabled by law, shielded by courts, normalized in public discourse. Everyone has been beaten. Many have been raped with metal objects, knives, dogs trained to rape. 1.9 million Palestinians are corralled in 50 square kilometers of land, exposed to the elements, without basic hygiene, without food, without medicine, with rats attacking them day and night."

Civil Defence crews were finally able to access the site where Leb journalist Amal Khalil was trapped under rubble but only hours later. They retrieved her body. Her newspaper Al Akbar has put out a video tribute. Lebanon’s Minister of Information condemned the incident describing the targeting of journalists as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and calling for international action.

Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was found dead after hours of searching under rubble. She was killed in an Israeli strike, after the Israeli army fired at ambulances trying to reach her, delaying her rescue. She is the fourth journalist killed by Israel while in the field since 2 March. She was a professional, kind and dedicated journalist, and always a pleasure to run into in the field.
