For those who used a computer between 1995 and 2001, what's the computer game from that time that sticks with you the most, and why?

> you download a therapy app because youre struggling > you tell it your darkest fears, your trauma, your diagnosis > you pay $360 a month to keep it private > 2 million people do the same > betterhelp sells your mental health data to facebook and snapchat > your therapist was supposed to keep secrets > the ftc fined them $7.8 million > but betterhelp is still the most downloaded mental health app on earth > you were never the customer. you were the inventory.

@simonmontefiore @ShippersUnbound what i thought was so interesting, was it was written almost in real time (very slow real time) with the fall of the Berlin wall. There is a good interview with him in one of the books as he explains it.

@nfergus I think they do but what am I, some random in Australia working the day job meant to do about it? Quickly build a few more refineries, find a few local oil fields, get some storage built? We just have to ride the wave best we can.

Because many people still don't seem able to process the huge scale of the economic shock currently unfolding, and the low probability that the Strait of Hormuz is rapidly reopened, I did some applied economic history.

@marlene4719 @RT_com Yet again, someone taller than the self-confessed 6'3" Trump. Now, as someone that's 6'4", it's quite rare for people to be taller than me. Yet people are very often taller than Trump. Even midget Messi didn't look small next to him. So... Why does he say he's 6'3"?

@TrentTelenko We’re to believe that Iran works on a “just in time” manufacturing doctrine with smuggled parts from abroad via a third country…..come on now

The reality was the Russian Geran supply chain shared many, many, components with Iran's Shaheed supply chain. And both were using the UAE to buy and smuggle Geran/Shaheed electronics from the West. Iran has stopped the Geran/Shaheed supply chain by attacking the UAE.
Illia Ponomarenko 🇺🇦@IAPonomarenko

Is this a coincidence that we in Ukraine are having a sharp decrease in the number of Russian Shahed attacks these days? I mean, it’s very noticeable. Same goes about Russian massive missile attacks.

“The assassination has not merely removed a leader; it has mythologised him among his followers. And myth, in revolutionary regimes, is a fount of power and renewal.” A man less able to appreciate this than Trump it is hard to imagine… unherd.com/2026/03/danger…

@_colourmeamused Yeah I saw this, then looked it up on the map, seems like a perfect place for a development, surrounded by other development. There is green space with a dogs walk distance.

My son absolutely loves trains. Can’t get enough of them - his ideal afternoon is watching videos of them on TV while playing with brio trains and a Duplo train station. What are the best things to do in London with him? We’ve been to the transport museum and I’ve taken him to watch them at Denmark Hill station (where the drivers often toot their horns at him, which he loves). What else might he enjoy?

@PBAus2022 @ProgDirectorate I think that "muh oil" libs really just need to have it pounded into their head that many of these countries with natural resource reserves have smaller, lower quality, or less worthwhile reserves than the countries they claim are attacking them.

@notasnervous @ProgDirectorate There is Gaza Marine (4Tcf) gas field which has not been developed but nobody is starting a war for that tiny amount. Significant locally but not internationally

@ProgDirectorate "Gaza has gas" and it's actually offshore gas that Israel has already been refining for 2 decades.

It took Iraq, 8 years to get back to pre 2003 oil export levels. Different regime change style but still. There is going to be chaos for some time that’s going to limit production. IMO
Alexander Stahel 🌻@BurggrabenH

As I said: it’s a blockade Trump can sustain with Brent at $60 until the job is done and Maduro is gone. Thereafter, we’ll get a truly weak oil market, one not seen since March 2014. Venezuela’s fields are mega-prolific and can return to 1.5mbpd with minimal love.

Also as long time listener… anyone remember the period when Tom & Dom were clearly trying to lessen the banter and levity, and noticeably, stop mimicking foreign accents? Then they went back to their original more jocular tone. Back to that tone that had them chuckling away at horror of the trenches in The Falklands War and stuff like that. I’m sure there were no Hitler impressions in the first series on the Nazis, for example? But someone can check. They also dropped the guest historian episodes, which were often a bit more dry and serious in tone. They vibed well with Dan Jackson though, who might be the only returning guest?

It’s interesting to chart The Rest Is History’s evolution from ‘accessible’, ‘Big Ideas’, thematic episodes focus-grouped for Waterstones Dad, to multi-part narrative episodes heavy on quotation & *facts*. People want the latter! Publishers, the BBC, &c., take note!

People are fleeing the UK in record numbers. We are losing some of our best, most productive citizens because of spiteful, clueless Socialist government. If you’re young and talented why wouldn’t you leave? A tragedy. 😢 telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/…

@tomhfh We left in 2022, didn't vote for Brexit, didn't want it, nothing seem to indicate it was going to get any better, so didn't see why we had to hang around and suffer from it.

We saw it around us. Friends moving abroad. Colleagues relocating. Dubai, Australia, America calling. It was there for all with eyes to see. Only today the ONS catches up. We’re suffering a brain drain the likes of which we haven’t seen since the crippling postwar consensus.

May 2nd 2011- Obama announced Osama Bin Laden had been killed No images of his body were shown and he was buried at sea August 6th 2011- 17 members of Seal Team 6 are killed in Operation Extortion from a Chinook being shot down (SECOND time seals have had this happen in Afghanistan) Now here is the rub, on @ShawnRyan762 Matt Bissonnette contradicts himself as to how and who shot Bin Laden from when he did an interview many years ago. This follows Rob O’Neil’s multiple flip flops as to what happened as well. Outside of Hitler this is probably the most wanted man in human history and there is continued changes of the story. I just don’t get how there can be multiple guys claiming to be second in the stack and then multiple guys giving entirely different play by plays, including contradicting what they’ve said in the past.

I wish we had this sort of thing in London. Only having ground-floor commercial units seems like such a waste. Can we just not do it from a lack of density? Or are consumers just set in their ways?
foks@ExaltedFoks

They’re doing really weird things in Vietnam. Feels like capitalism is looser there. The stores are all makeshift with seemingly zero thought put into making money. They’re open till however late, who cares. Sure, stack 50 cafes together in an apartment building. Nothing matters
