Fifth, and I already touched on this, but the Cubs have 3 of the worst contracts in all of baseball. $65 million for this production is horrible.

Was so pissed when the lineup card came out and Ian Happ batting 2nd + Michael Conforto 5th. I decided to take some time before posting some thoughts.

First off, Ian Happ is objectively the COLDEST hitter on the team. Craig Counsell just admitted how poorly he’s been performing at the plate and proceeds to bat him 2nd? Pure incompetence.

Fourth, Dansby Swanson is an automatic out at the plate right now. He’s the best defensive SS in the game, no one is denying that. But he kills any rally. Every. Single. Time.

Third, Pedro Ramirez and Moises Ballesteros are PURE hitters. Stop pinch hitting for them. They can both hit righties and lefties just fine. Leave them in, they are the future.

Secondly, Michael Conforto 0/16 in his last 16 at bats. He’s a much better bench/ role player than a starter at DH or RF. Why on earth would you bat him 5th?

Here’s a video of every pitch PCA saw yesterday. A very patient approach, did not chase at all, delivered quality at-bats, and hit the ball hard. Results will follow if he continues a similar approach to this. I’d like to see him get more looks in the leadoff spot.
