8 AM UPDATE - 24/7 operations continue in Germantown to repair a collapsed 30-inch diameter sewer main. About 26 hrs in and significant progress has been made. You can see the temporary bypass pipes, about 1,000 feet total are being put in place to divert wastewater around the collapse so repairs can be made. Bypass pumping expected to be operational later today (3/20). Overnight crews with Verizon relocated two utility poles and Washington Gas relocated a gas main.

WOOAH----To repair the 30-inch diameter collapsed sewer pipe in Germantown. Crews are actively building the temporary bypass pumping operation. 1,000 feet of pipe is onsite and it’s currently being fused together. !!Drinking water is not impacted!!
