For too long, too many people have felt that the crowd making decisions aren't taking them seriously. PC Leader @TonyWakehamNL and the Progressive Conservatives are fighting for a better Newfoundland and Labrador, for ALL of us.

The results are in. John Hogan and the Opposition Liberals voted against our new PC Budget. The same Party that voted to give themselves secret bonuses this time last year have now voted against measures aimed at delivering better health care, lower taxes, and safer communities. The Liberals had a choice, and once again they chose themselves over the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

One flaw in the current Churchill Falls MOU is clear. Since 2007, mining activity on the Quebec side of the Labrador Trough has grown by 125%, while growth on our side has been just 45%. Why? Quebec had the power. It is time to develop our own industries, especially in Labrador. More power. More value. More transmission. For All of Us.

Ripping up one bad deal from 1969 with another is not the answer. Had the current MOU proceeded, Newfoundlanders and Labradorians could have been left carrying up to $30 billion in additional debt. Our government is going back to the table with one clear objective: secure the best possible deal for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Full stop. More power. More value. More transmission. For All of Us.

We all live under the shadow of the 1969 Churchill Falls agreement. If tearing up one bad deal means signing another, we will be forcing future generations to live under that same shadow. I will never sign such a deal.

Today, we honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Newfoundland & Labrador and across Canada. We stand in solidarity with families, survivors, and communities, listening and learning as we support their calls for justice, healing, and lasting change.

On Thursday, April 30, we received the independent review of the Churchill Falls Memorandum of Understanding. This is one of the most important public policy issues facing Newfoundland and Labrador, which is why our government will release the report publicly on Tuesday, May 19. The report is undergoing a technical and legal review for commercially sensitive information before the committee's findings are shared with the people of the province. My focus remains clear: getting the best possible deal for the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Today on International Firefighters Day, thank you to the brave women and men who risk their lives to keep our communities safe. Your courage and dedication do not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful for all you do for our province.

Two budgets. Two very different choices. The 2016 Liberal budget asked you to pay more and expect less. Our first budget delivers real opportunity, where Newfoundlanders and Labradorians pay less and get more. For all of us.

BREAKING: Today, our PC government tabled Budget 2026: Opportunity for All of Us. We are continuing to invest in Newfoundlanders and Labradorians with no new taxes and continued cost of living relief, while planning for the future with better health care and safer communities.

Our government is investing over $7 million in new funding in Budget 2026 to ensure first responders and volunteers have the tools, training, and support they need to protect Newfoundlanders and Labradorians when it matters most. From new wildland gear and advanced communications, to upgraded emergency operations and critical equipment across the province, we are strengthening emergency response in every region. We are also recognizing the incredible dedication of our volunteer firefighters and search and rescue teams by doubling their tax credit, because their commitment deserves more than thanks. Today, we were proud to join North Atlantic as they opened their new headquarters right here in our province. They’ve long been a trusted presence in our communities, and their $50,000 support for Team Rubicon, who stepped up during last summer’s wildfires, is another example of that commitment. When companies like North Atlantic succeed, Newfoundland and Labrador succeeds.

National Tourism Week is a time to celebrate the people, places, and stories that make Newfoundland and Labrador unlike anywhere else. From our rugged coastlines to our welcoming communities, tourism is part of who we are. It brings our culture to life, connects us to the world, and creates opportunities in every corner of our province. Our government is focused on growing this sector and making Newfoundland and Labrador the tourism capital of Canada. With $1.4 billion in annual visitor spending and more than 20,000 jobs supported across the province, tourism is a powerful driver of economic growth, strong communities, and shared pride in all we have to offer.
