A Flood Watch is in effect for the State of Hawaii from 6 pm HST this evening through Sunday afternoon. PDC is coordinating closely in support of state and local emergency management as another “Kona Low” storm moves through the state. Several rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall are anticipated, with the heaviest rain expected from Friday night through Saturday. While this storm may not be as strong as the one last week, the ground is already saturated, and it will take less rain to produce flooding. For hazard alerts and updates as this storm unfolds, continue to monitor DisasterAWARE and the Disaster Alert app, as conditions may change, and additional alerts may be issued or extended. >> Download Disaster Alert on the App Store and Google Play State and local decision makers can access PDC’s DisasterAWARE Pro (DisasterAWARE.pdc.org) to assess potential impacts, current and forecast rainfall, wind speeds, stream gauge observations, live cameras, critical infrastructure, and more. #EarlyWarningForAll #SaferWorld #hawaii #maui #oahu #SevereWeather #flood #disasteraware #EarlyWarningForAll #SaferWorld #hawaii #maui#oahu#severeweather#weather #flood #disasteraware @Hawaii_EMA @Maui_EMA @CivilDefenseHI @Oahu_DEM

Sending aloha and a big mahalo (thank you) to our Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) and HeiGIT partners for the invitation to participate in their session “Who Owns the Map? Building a Community-Controlled Humanitarian Mapping Pipeline” at Humanitarian Networks & Partnerships Week (HNPW) in Geneva. We value the opportunity to share how the humanitarian mapping community’s work is being applied within operational disaster decision support systems like DisasterAWARE (pdc.org/DisasterAWARE). Key highlights included how community-driven mapping efforts can enhance the broader data ecosystem that informs decision-support capabilities, helping organizations better understand who and what may be exposed when hazards occur. #earlywarningforall #saferworld #GIS #data #DisasterAWARE #HNPW2026 @hotosm #HeiGIT

PDC is coordinating with state and local emergency management authorities across the Hawaiian Islands as a powerful, slow-moving “Kona Low” storm northwest of the islands begins making landfall. The storm system will bring a prolonged period of hazardous weather across the state beginning today and through the upcoming weekend. Periods of heavy rain are expected, with potential for severe flash flooding, damaging winds, and strong to severe thunderstorms. Severe weather may result in hail and/or tornado activity. Based on current model forecasts, this potentially life-threatening weather pattern will continue to unfold across Hawaii into early next week. State and local decision makers are encouraged to log in to PDC’s DisasterAWARE platform to assess potential flood impacts and exposure of critical infrastructure to storm impacts, visualize 3-day cumulative rainfall forecasts, and monitor storm impacts in real time via live cameras. >> Visit disasteraware.pdc.org The public is encouraged to download PDC’s Disaster Alert mobile app for real-time updates on the storm, as well as for flood zone information and cumulative rainfall forecasts. >> Download Disaster Alert on the App Store and Google Play #DisasterAWARE #DisasterAlert #EarlWarningsForAll #SaferWorld @Hawaii_EMA @Oahu_DEM @CoMaui_MEMA @CountyofKauai @CivilDefenseHI
