Zohran Mamdani is being heckled right now at a press conference in Brooklyn, NY, by someone whose words I can't hear, but watch how he's dealing with it. Mamdani has the unique skill of knowing how to handle and walk into every room and engage with people, no matter how toxic they are or how their feelings are against him. And many times, make them feel heard. Elected officials, nonprofit and religious leaders, advocates, and activists on both sides of the political spectrum who met with him told me that. Don't take my word for it, President Trump is pretty public about it. That's why he's currently the mayor of New York City. If you don't like his politics or you're like me, who opposed his candidacy and is still troubled by some of his actions and statements, then don't take this post the wrong way; read into it how you should be better to communicate your message. Yes, putting ego aside for any public figure is not easy.

@jbillinson I love “what’s next?,” as if this drivers licenses is a new proposal that will lead to a slippery slope (rather than something we’ve already had for decades)

@TaraAnnThieke there are many people that are ok with the war against the Jews: promoting, arming, funding fatah and hamas with US/EU tax dollars, but then say they are 'anti war' when Israel is forced to defend Israelis. Surely your dad wasn't one of these types, no?

When I was 19 I found out a Zionist had made a list of every American he could find who had criticized Israel. There were tens of thousands of people on the list w/ reasons given for why they deserved to be labeled an enemy target. I was shocked to find my dad on the list because he had signed an anti-war petition. It is laughable to suggest my father is an anti-semite, but he is strongly anti-war. I, being 19 & extraordinarily naive, contacted the maker of the list to explain this was about war, not anti-semitism, and asked him to take down such a dangerous "enemies" list. He responded cheerfully that I was obviously also an "enemy of Israel" because I was opposed to making "enemy lists" and so he added my name to it and wished death upon me. The next 20 years taught me that wasn't a fringe character - that is contemporary media & political policy. The deliberate mixing of criticism of Israel with antisemitism is the actual revolting bad-faith practice and has no place in a polite, free, or (dare we hope one day) loving society.

I think about this Ulster coat all the time. Made by a famous Florentine tailor (Antonio Liverano) and now by his former undercutters (Qemal Selimi, Vittorio Salino, Hojun Choi), it's a basic double-breasted style inspired by rustic Irish outerwear, but made in a dressier fabric

Our clients deserve confident attorneys who aren’t burnt out from the challenges of zealously advocating for them. They deserve attorneys who believe in the legal system, procedures, and their knowledge of the law. There is a reason why we have a high bar of professional conduct with severe personal consequences. It is inevitable, if you practice long enough, that we will stumble from time to time. Attorneys having professional concerns about themselves ensure that we still uphold the MINIMUM obligations to our clients even when we’re not at our best

@ASFleischman @DietCoke_Esq Maybe it’s not about you and me, and our clients deserve attorneys whose primary professional concern ain’t themselves.

Endlessly fascinated by how he doesn’t seem to notice the things he reveals in his tweets. Kids order milk everywhere all the time so like, he’s just exposing that he doesn’t go out to eat with his young kids often, the mothers order poorly or are not present, or, due to his status, he takes them to places that do not allow children (rules don’t apply to him). The second part just says his children are entitled brats with no respect for the chef and due to their proximity to unfathomable wealth, are not taught basic manners or cultural awareness … applies also to his grok video choices featuring alarmingly young, wide-eyed, non-threatening females that stiffen his egg-harvesting urges and emphasize that he lives in a sort of fantasyland (men adore fantasy) and is probably constantly frustrated that even with his resources, he cannot make his fantasies real. The lack of metacognition by such a powerful figure, who has been cocooned for years by a carefully curated genius narrative, is just such an exceptional example of how groupthink is created around famous personas and shapes cultural perception on such a massive scale through the internet. It can also be undone easily by casual observation, but the individual cannot make a dent in such armor, so is thus unthreatening with her 5-10 likes

You will live on the AI slop farm. You’ll have 10,000 acres and your front door will lead directly to a small 8x8 foot swamp. Three horses will drink from the water, with decapitated jockeys on their backs. One of your horses will be the longest horse in the world. Your fences will kind of veer off into the grass from time to time. There’s three shutters on some of your windows and a shutter to the left of your front door. You have no driveway and you own no Gucci bags. You are happy.

@SellersCounsel Young lawyers: if you want to sell out, go to biglaw! If you are in the market for departing with your soul (or never had one), biglaw is for you. If you love helping rich people get richer while dodging (and rigging) the system…

Seen a lot of talk on here lately in response to the K&E numbers saying how flexibility and time with family are worth way more than a career in BigLaw But to you law students or young lawyers out there, don’t forget that all the people saying that only are able to do what they do because of spending a few years grinding in BigLaw Sure its a lifestyle that very few want long term but its the best springboard for your career in almost every way

This is fascinating to me. Sonya Massey was murdered by a cop she called in my city; the city did shit, but my *county* was pissed and is still trying to give her justice. I'm staying out of this other than wondering what the difference in NYC counties (called boroughs) are.

Being forced to move to Brooklyn because Manhattan is too expensive doesn’t make you a gentrifier any more than the person you’re displacing in Crown Heights moving to Flatbush and displacing people there Its the rational result of a failure to build proper affordable housing

@DrStevenPhD @HighyieldHarry …sterling Draper it wouldn’t be for more advertising. This is him following through on that feeling. (Which is why the ending is so great, bc it shows the vacuousness of Don Draper’s whole persona - he returns to advertising! At McCann! To sell sugar water!)

@DrStevenPhD @HighyieldHarry I don’t think he was scared, he was over it and saw through the BS. The guy starts by saying he’s gonna talk about a guy “with very specific qualities,” then says he could live in three different places and is an Everyman. Don was just over it. He used to say if he ever left…

@HighyieldHarry Except he wasn't uninspired, he was scared. He knew he couldn't compete on this angle. At this moment he is giving up. Don didn't know he would have the Coke epiphany, he had effectively quit. sorry for ruining the joke I just really like this seen.
