The EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) takes full effect this year and it represents yet another nail in the coffin. In theory, CBAM is a climate policy intended to level the playing field by taxing imports based on their carbon footprint. The target is countries outside the EU whose environmental measures are less stringent. The scope covers essential goods, such as steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. The European Commission claims this will drive a global shift toward cleaner industrial production. Yet once again, Brussels seems unwilling to acknowledge the domestic fallout. These imports are fundamental building materials. Making them more expensive inevitably drives up construction costs, pushing an already fragile housing market into deeper crisis. Europe is struggling with unaffordable housing and inadequate investment, and CBAM risks worsening rents and house prices just when relief is needed most. Bureaucracy at its finest!

The EU is preparing a fund of 42 billion euros in education, only that it's not the European students who benefit from it. Our own students need to live in containers and tents on campuses since housing has become scarcer, while the EU will fund to expand the Erasmus Project to North Africa and Middle East When will our own people come first?!
