What happens when institutions come together to share data? We gain the ability to answer questions that matter for patients and families. In a recent publication from #PERC, researchers identified differences in baseline characteristics and post-surgical outcomes among patients with generalized tonic seizures. The findings showed: - Focal surgery cases demonstrated high seizure-freedom rates - Corpus callosotomy cases often experienced delays in treatment - Despite delays, outcomes were generally favorable, suggesting these delays may be unwarranted Insights like these are exactly what families and clinicians need when making critical treatment decisions. #Epilepsy neuromodulation is advancing rapidly—but some of the most important questions are still unanswered. At #PERC, researchers across institutions are working together to turn complex brain network data into better treatments for patients with epilepsy. Current areas of focus include: - Genetic epilepsies and their response to thalamic neuromodulation - What multi-center data can tell us about RNS vs DBS outcomes - How we can harmonize datasets across institutions - The best ways to measure structural and functional connectivity Turning complex brain network data into meaningful treatment strategies takes collaboration across centers, disciplines, and datasets.
