The small role we played in his censure wasn’t personal. Rather, it was about protecting the first responders and the public made less safe by a Fire Chief who has always put himself and his ego before those he swore to serve.

At the 57th Annual IAFF convention, we proudly stood with our brothers and sisters from the United Yavapai Fire Fighters IAFF Local 3066, seconding their motion to censure Chief Scott Freitag of over his resistance to national safety standards and his bullying behavior.

Freitag’s censure speaks volumes about his failures as a leader and how he mistreats those who serve under his command. We will continue to support IAFF members forced to work for him.

His anti-union views and his abusive treatment of subordinates has clearly followed him to the Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority.

Our local and many of our more than 2,700 members have not forgotten Freitag. He worked for eight years as the Assistant Chief of Operations for the Cottleville Fire Protection District.

***Union Meetings Notice*** The June 2024 Union Membership Meeting dates will be held on Monday June 10th and Thursday June 13th. Union meetings are held on the second Monday and Thursday of every month beginning at 8:00 PM at the PFEM Union Hall.

Tomorrow is Workers’ Memorial Day. This weekend we remember those who have died in the line of duty and pledge to continue making the job safer for all of our members.
