English

Peltephilus ferox
Although it resembles a modern armadillo, this creature lived 29 million years ago in what is now South America. It had sharp, triangular teeth, which initially led it to be considered carnivorous, even though it was actually herbivorous.

Compsognathus longipes
The famous Compy, this dinosaur known for its small size, lived at the end of the Jurassic period. Thanks to well-preserved remains, we know that it fed on small vertebrates such as lizards, suggesting that it was an agile hunter.

Simosuchus clarki
This creature resembles a ferocious crocodile, but it was actually an omnivore with flat, nail-like teeth! Its body shape makes it look like a small dog. It is another inhabitant of the Maevaranom Formation in Madagascar. It's so cute!

Diplocaulus magnicornis
We bid farewell to the year with this beautiful and strange friend, a curious amphibian that lived for a long time from the end of the Carboniferous period to the end of the Permian period, a true prehistoric survivor.

Tiktaalik roseae
One of the most curious animals we've seen in a long time, this old-timer is a fish from the Devonian period that lived more than 375 Ma! The most interesting thing is that this fish had developed lungs! Isn't that amazing?

Sahonachelys mailakavava
This little friend comes from Cretaceous Madagascar. It lived in the Maevarano Formation alongside the fearsome Majungasaurus. The structure of its mouth suggests that it fed by suction, which is surprising for a turtle of that era.

Archaeopteryx lithographica
This beauty, whose name means “ancient wing,” may look like a Raptor, but it belongs to the paraves clade, making it one of the links between dinosaurs and birds. All this without ceasing to be a theropod. Isn’t that wonderful?
