Our office also conducts our own research on a wide range of topics to provide elected officials and the public with independent assessments on policy issues. This is one of the ways our office is evolving and pushing for more informed, data-driven policy decisions. #SunshineWeek

Our office keeps the City’s books and pays the City’s bills. In 2025, we processed 28,000 checks and 106,000 total transactions, and the City spent a total of $992 million. Here’s a quick look at what happens when an invoice comes in and a check goes out. #SunshineWeek

We also regularly work to help members of the media and the public find and understand public information. At fiscalfocus.pittsburghpa.gov, you can monitor the City’s budget, see the City’s checkbook, and track spending from the American Rescue Plan funds.

It’s #SunshineWeek AND #GlobalRecyclingDay! In 2025, the City’s Environmental Services team recycled 21,579 tons of material, which we then sold to generate $97,274 in revenue. This is one of the many things we track in our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
