I *don't want* a bubble of like minded folks, mind you. I want to connect with a diverse set of new people over a particular interest or event today, and do the same with some OTHER interest/event tomorrow.

So what's the plan for using the federated model without a simple way to at least scan through other instances? Practical Q: How am I going to discuss the World Cup/SeriA (and find new people as a result) with folks from all over?

I just want search to work better. Let me throw a regex against an instance and have it work. Why is that too much to ask?
