@_Memo_4302 @SamuelHBlack Closest comp i can personally remember, though judges back then tended to enforce slow play more, especially in UW miracle mirrors. Also not quite as bad cause multiple in play didn't compound as much, and 1v1 vs 4 players ofc

@SamuelHBlack Would you say it’s comparable to the Senseis Top ban in legacy? it apparently wasn’t about the powerlevel of the card but the play patterns / time issues it brought to the table?

I should be more explicit about this. The reason Rhystic is such a problem is that I genuinely think 5 hours isn’t an unrealistic expectation for the additional time required to complete a tournament with 5 rounds+top 16 because of Rhystic.

@nsflgsliger The issue is that Rhystic earns top marks in every metric—power level, ubiquity, play pattern, and tournament logistics. It sucks when a card is too strong and it makes games end very early, but it’s less of a disaster than a card’s legality adding 5+ hours to a tournament

@prismaticwhore @wildstwawberry It can be, but unfortunately the meta atm is "jam an early rhystic study and play as many copy enchantment effects as possible" which, if 2-3 player's per pod are doing that, bogs the game down into an unbearable slog with like 6 triggers per game action

@wzrdnx @sophistsdismay To be clear, this was at a fully volunteer ran event for charity, no one working/running it is getting paid, everything to charity. Which is why the vibes are generally way more chill than other comp REL events, this is the first time I've ever seen someone act up like this here

A cool what’s the play that will be in my YouTube video tomorrow if anyone wants to look at it. Land drop already made Tamiyo not activated yet 1 unknown (random draw off riddler, + 3 revealed) This is Doomsday, so if you want to take a stab at it, include the pile and whether you pass the turn or not. @Dr_Derael can happen if P1 and P2 both have a win and pact is the only way to stop either. Pact player flashes the pact and asks for a draw. If either P1 or P2 say no, pact player can throw the game to the other player, so everyone just takes the draw (because 1 point > 0 for standings)

@hotashis you don't need to announce it on cast as long you acknowledge the trigger the first time it would be applicable. So as long as nothing happened that interacts w/ pro everything before this (tapping ancient tomb, k command targeting self), just point to ring and say "protection"

@SaffronOlive I believe Black Devotion was better than Blue Devotion in 2013 (it was definitely the deck I remember playing against the most during that timeframe) But also that standard was complete dogwater so I wouldn't mind just deleting everything about it from memory
