PIAC Chair engages Finance Minister on funding challenges The Chair of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC), Richard Ellimah, has held discussions with the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, on the financial challenges confronting the Committee and the need for sustainable funding to support its mandate. The meeting, held on Monday, 26th January 2026, discussed PIAC’s funding constraints, particularly the impact of delays and inadequacies in budgetary allocations on the Committee’s ability to effectively monitor and evaluate the management and use of Ghana’s petroleum revenues. Mr. Ellimah underscored PIAC’s statutory role under the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA) and emphasised that adequate and timely funding remained critical to ensuring transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the management and use of petroleum revenues. The Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, acknowledged PIAC’s importance as a key accountability institution and assured the Committee of government’s commitment to addressing the funding concerns to support effective oversight.
