Capacity Building Workshop for Tribal Homestay Owners Begins
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, in collaboration with ITDC and IHM–Ashok, inaugurated a Capacity Building Workshop for Tribal Homestay Owners aimed at strengthening community-led tourism and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in tribal regions.
The workshop was inaugurated by Smt. Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, in the presence of Sh. Manish Thakur, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs; Ms Mugdha Sinha, IAS, Managing Director, ITDC; Dr Varnali Deka, Director, Ministry of Tribal Affairs; and Mr Rajesh Rana, DCM, ITDC.
Participants from Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Gujarat will undergo intensive training in homestay management, hospitality, and tourism services from 16th to 25th March 2026, equipping them with the skills required to develop sustainable tribal homestay enterprises.
Addressing the participants, the Secretary of Tribal Affairs encouraged them to strengthen local economies by promoting tourism rooted in tribal heritage, culture, and traditions. She highlighted that the development of tribal homestays can create new livelihood pathways while preserving the unique identity of tribal regions, and urged participants to build strong management capabilities and emerge as master trainers who can guide and support other homestay owners in their respective states.
