🚨 India’s tourism story is breaking in the wrong direction. While 3.3 crore Indians travelled abroad in 2025 (record high), foreign tourist arrivals to India dropped to 90.2 lakh — 9.4% lower than 2024 and 17.5% below pre-Covid levels. Why? • Hotels in India are often costlier than abroad. • Overpriced taxis, scams, harassment complaints. • Poor hygiene, garbage, and civic mismanagement at tourist spots. • Weak infrastructure despite heavy “Tourism Promotion” budgets. • Zero accountability on ground reality Result: Indians are choosing UAE, Thailand, Singapore over their own country because they get better value, better experience and basic respect. “Dekho Apna Desh” sounds good in ads. But on ground, tourists are voting with their wallets. Fix the system or keep losing both global tourists and your own citizens.
