#TBT In February #RERIPA & @PIDF01 were represented at the OACPS Research & Innovation Programme's stakeholders exchange meeting and a training session on science, technology & innovation policy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 1/3

The stakeholder exchange meeting was attended by participants, representing research & innovation (R&I) projects, from the African, Caribbean and Pacific Island countries, sharing knowledge and experiences to shape the R&I ecosystems at local, national & international levels. 2/3

The capacity building session on science, technology and innovation policy was jointly facilitated by @OacpsProgramme and UN Technology Facilitation Mechanism, which was established to support the achievement of the SDGs. 3/3

A year ago in August of 2022 #RERIPA officially launched it's project activities at The University of the South Pacific's Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji. RERIPA seeks to consolidate and strengthen research and innovation capacities in the Pacific to tackle climate change impacts.

Since the #RERIPA project launch a year ago there have been a number of workshops with stakeholders and technical meetings with project partners to discuss implementation and monitoring of project activities.

#RERIPA is funded by the European Union through the @OacpsProgramme and implemented in the Pacific by the @ird_fr in partnership with @PIDF01, @Pacific_2030 & @vmgdVU. @UniSouthPacific through it's regional campuses is leading two of the four calls which were launched last year.

#RERIPA supports the development of innovative approaches that utilizes cost-effective measures & digital technologies to address climate change impacts in the Pacific related to rising sea levels, coastal vulnerability, ocean health, increasing temperatures & biodiversity loss.

From this Floating Net Cage technique, it shows and showcases how to practice sustainable aquaculture, based on a traditional farming method for a good environment in marine and fisheries. #SOM7AISForum #SOM7SideEvents

As we prepare for @AISforum's meeting in Suva, six side-events take place in Fiji and Vanuatu, with the support of @kemenkomarves and @UNDPIndonesia. In Bau island the training on floating net cage started with local community eager to learn sustainable fishery practices.

Day 2 of Training for Floating Net Cage (FNC) technique implementation in Fiji intended to enrich local community/fisherman knowledge, regarding innovative methods or techniques for marine and fisheries environment, to practice for sustainable aquaculture. #SOM7AISForum
