@ProFootballTalk They shouldn’t cap player compensation, rather they should allow up to 2 players on their roster that the team can designate to have a reduced cap charge for the season. Most likely the QB and top WR or Edge player.

I did … and beyond the stupidity of calling it “a loss for Canada” … it illustrates a flaw to me in having a cap on the plaque in the first place. With all due respect to Dawson and the Cubs, he’s in the Hall of Fame because of his time with the Expos. That’s how people will remember him … despite an MVP season for the Cubs (in a year they finished in last place, which should have eliminated him from contention). So I’d eliminate the cap on the plaque, but if not, then guess it’s fine for the player to choose.
