Months ago, this dam was full. Today, it’s dry and cracked. But hope is returning — PINGO’s Forum and Welthaus Graz are drilling a water well here to help Indigenous women, pastoralists, and the entire community of Sukuro Village in Simanjiro District survive the changing climate

Meet Kasosi Kerry Purengei, a 2025 🇹🇿 YALI Mandela Washington Fellow — a tech advocate dedicated to bridging the digital divide for indigenous communities in Tanzania. With a background in computer science, Kasosi serves as ICT Manager at PINGO’s Forum, where he promotes digital literacy, expands STEM education, and uses media to amplify marginalized voices. He also worked with grassroots organizations like Traditional Ecosystems Survival Tanzania to increase digital access in underserved areas. Kasosi is currently studying Leadership in Civic Engagement at the University of Tennessee, gaining tools to further empower indigenous communities through technology and advocacy. 💡 #YALI2025

PINGO's Forum advocated for pastoralists & hunter-gatherers at Tanzania's NDC 3.0 Forum (25-28 Mar). We pushed for mobile livelihood protections & solutions for vulnerable pastoralist women. These voices must shape Tanzania's COP30 climate plans.
