My read: Mid-2026 is the window. Total Altcoin Season days historically: 416 Total Bitcoin Season days: 953 Bitcoin dominance cycles don't last forever. The rotation always comes. The real question is: are you positioned for when it does? What's your highest conviction alt right now? 👇

Bitcoin is ranging between $73,000 and $66,000. The most likely scenario? We tap the lower end of the range first, then rip to the upper side. Patience is the edge. Let the range play out. Are you positioned for both moves? #Bitcoin #BTC #Crypto #Trading #BullMarket

This is a common but deeply flawed argument. Let me break it down: 1) The Pentagon itself agrees with Anthropic's position. Their own spokesman Sean Parnell said YESTERDAY: "The Pentagon has no interest in using AI to develop autonomous weapons that operate without human involvement." DoD Directive 3000.09 requires "appropriate levels of human judgment over the use of force." The U.S. military's own Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Paul Selva, said: "I don't think it's reasonable to put robots in charge of whether or not we take a human life." 2) Even OpenAI — the company that just signed the Pentagon deal hours ago — included the EXACT same safeguards. Sam Altman: "Two of our most important safety principles are prohibitions on domestic mass surveillance and human responsibility for the use of force, including for autonomous weapon systems. The DoW agrees with these principles and we put them into our agreement." 3) 161 countries voted at the UN General Assembly for a treaty regulating autonomous weapons. The UN Secretary-General called them "morally repugnant" and set a 2026 deadline for a binding treaty. 120+ nations support negotiations. This isn't fringe — it's the global consensus. 4) "We need them to defend against them" is circular logic. That's the same arms race reasoning that led to 70,000 nuclear warheads. The solution to dangerous weapons has never been "build more dangerous weapons with less human control." Anthropic isn't saying "don't use AI in defense." They're saying "keep a human in the loop for kill decisions." If you think that's unreasonable, I'd genuinely like to understand why. :)

In a democracy, it’s absolutely ok to define who can use the things you make and how. But it’s also absolutely ok for the Government to lose trust in you, tell you to fuck off and find an alternative. It’s also absolutely ok for you to nuke your own company in the process. The timing of this is not good for Anthropic and could be a potential boon to every other model that is exceeding expectations in their upcoming version (Grok, OAI, Gemini). More generally, I don’t see how this isn’t a slippery slope. What if a model maker updates their ToS that would block a use case that is legal but subjective? Agreeable in some states but not in others? What about in different countries with different governance or religions? It’s a huge can of worms. How can a government or company rely on a model that could have an ever-changing definition of what’s allowed without taking on major business/governance risk? They won’t. My hunch is that the company that embraces the “no holds barred” ToS will win because it’s the least risky to adopt wrt long term risk of getting rug-pulled.

🚨 Someone is paying you $100/hr to short $OPENAI right now Hyperliquid funding rate is at 4% PER HOUR — that's the absolute max cap 💰 35,000% annualized The math: • ~$2,800 short position • Longs pay YOU ~$112 every hour • That's ~$2,688/day just from funding Pre-IPO perps on Hyperliquid are creating insane funding arb opportunities 👀 How long before this collapses? 👇

Respectfully disagree, @chamath. Let's examine what Anthropic actually asked for: 1. No mass domestic surveillance of Americans 2. No fully autonomous weapons (no human in the loop) That's it. Two safeguards. Not "ever-changing ToS" — two fixed, narrow red lines. Here's why this framing is wrong: THE LEGAL REALITY: Federal courts have consistently ruled mass surveillance likely violates the 4th Amendment (Klayman v. Obama, 2013; Carpenter v. US, 2018). Anthropic isn't inventing restrictions — it's aligning with constitutional principles the law hasn't caught up to enforce on AI yet. INTERNATIONAL LAW: The UN General Assembly (Res. 78/241, 79/62), the Geneva Conventions (Art. 36, Protocol I), and Human Rights Watch all call for maintaining meaningful human control over lethal weapons. Anthropic's position IS the emerging global legal consensus. THE "SLIPPERY SLOPE" ISN'T: You frame this as subjective ToS changes. But "don't spy on Americans" and "don't build autonomous kill systems" aren't subjective. They're foundational democratic principles. There's no slippery slope from "don't surveil your own citizens en masse" to blocking legal use cases. EVEN OPENAI AGREES: Sam Altman publicly stated OpenAI shares Anthropic's exact same red lines. So the "no holds barred" company you predict will win? It doesn't exist. Every major AI lab drew these same lines. THE REAL RISK: The actual governance risk isn't a company with two clear, stable safeguards. It's a government using Cold War-era laws (DPA) and unprecedented "supply chain risk" designations to bully an American company into removing safety guardrails — while simultaneously claiming those same products are essential to national security. The contradiction is obvious. Anthropic isn't "nuking" itself. It's the only company at the table saying "we'll support every lawful military use EXCEPT mass surveillance of Americans and unsupervised kill decisions." If that's too much to ask, we have a much bigger problem than ToS.

we're making @blocks smaller today. here's my note to the company. #### today we're making one of the hardest decisions in the history of our company: we're reducing our organization by nearly half, from over 10,000 people to just under 6,000. that means over 4,000 of you are being asked to leave or entering into consultation. i'll be straight about what's happening, why, and what it means for everyone. first off, if you're one of the people affected, you'll receive your salary for 20 weeks + 1 week per year of tenure, equity vested through the end of may, 6 months of health care, your corporate devices, and $5,000 to put toward whatever you need to help you in this transition (if you’re outside the U.S. you’ll receive similar support but exact details are going to vary based on local requirements). i want you to know that before anything else. everyone will be notified today, whether you're being asked to leave, entering consultation, or asked to stay. we're not making this decision because we're in trouble. our business is strong. gross profit continues to grow, we continue to serve more and more customers, and profitability is improving. but something has changed. we're already seeing that the intelligence tools we’re creating and using, paired with smaller and flatter teams, are enabling a new way of working which fundamentally changes what it means to build and run a company. and that's accelerating rapidly. i had two options: cut gradually over months or years as this shift plays out, or be honest about where we are and act on it now. i chose the latter. repeated rounds of cuts are destructive to morale, to focus, and to the trust that customers and shareholders place in our ability to lead. i'd rather take a hard, clear action now and build from a position we believe in than manage a slow reduction of people toward the same outcome. a smaller company also gives us the space to grow our business the right way, on our own terms, instead of constantly reacting to market pressures. a decision at this scale carries risk. but so does standing still. we've done a full review to determine the roles and people we require to reliably grow the business from here, and we've pressure-tested those decisions from multiple angles. i accept that we may have gotten some of them wrong, and we've built in flexibility to account for that, and do the right thing for our customers. we're not going to just disappear people from slack and email and pretend they were never here. communication channels will stay open through thursday evening (pacific) so everyone can say goodbye properly, and share whatever you wish. i'll also be hosting a live video session to thank everyone at 3:35pm pacific. i know doing it this way might feel awkward. i'd rather it feel awkward and human than efficient and cold. to those of you leaving…i’m grateful for you, and i’m sorry to put you through this. you built what this company is today. that's a fact that i'll honor forever. this decision is not a reflection of what you contributed. you will be a great contributor to any organization going forward. to those staying…i made this decision, and i'll own it. what i'm asking of you is to build with me. we're going to build this company with intelligence at the core of everything we do. how we work, how we create, how we serve our customers. our customers will feel this shift too, and we're going to help them navigate it: towards a future where they can build their own features directly, composed of our capabilities and served through our interfaces. that's what i'm focused on now. expect a note from me tomorrow. jack
