He has played against far less physical top 6 forward cores in Utah and Anaheim vs years prior (Florida, Tampa, Boston). And it’s giving him confidence to make the plays he’s making. Griddy is a world class player no doubt, but the match ups have been way more favorable and tailored to his style of game. A leopard doesn’t change its spots. He’s just been reaping the benefits of less physical hockey against Utah and Anaheim.
