BREAKING: Less than 24 hours after amending its Rules to restrict eligibility for top leadership positions, @NGRSenate has reversed the decision. The Senate had, during the plenary of Wednesday, May 6th, amended its Standing Rules to bar first-term senators from contesting for principal offices. However, the chamber has now rescinded the amendment, restoring the previous provision, which included first time senators to be considered for nomination as principal officers, although as last in rank.

Less than 5%. That’s how many women sit in Nigeria’s National Assembly. 15 states have none. Since 1999, representation has only declined. This is not a gap. It is a failure of the system. The Special Seats Bill (HB 1349) forces a correction. New seats. Open elections. A sunset clause after 16 years. It is balance, not charity. Over the next three weeks, we will break this bill open and name the people who must vote on it. Follow along. Repost this. Tag your rep. Hold them accountable. #RoomForMore #HB1349 #SpecialSeatsBill #PassHB1349 #WomenInPolitics #NASS #10thAssembly @PLACNG @nassnigeria @HouseNGR @NGRSenate

BREAKING: Supreme Court sets aside Court Order directing "Status Quo Ante Bellum" in @ADCNig. This means that the David Mark-led leadership remains in place for now, as the case filed by Nafiu Bala continues at the Federal High Court, which will determine the party’s leadership. Earlier, in a split judgment of three to two, the Supreme Court affirmed the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which nullified the Ibadan convention of @OfficialPDPNig that produced the Tanimu Turaki-led leadership.
