why: I am so tired of worrying about & spending lots of time fixing memory leaks and crashes and stability issues. it would be so nice if the language provided more powerful tools for preventing these things.

Yes. And at the same time the entire context of “investing nothing” is that it was a non profit.
And raising money for non profits is about as 100x as hard per dollar as raising for for profits.
So Elon putting in $38M is like a $3.8B initial fundraise for a for profit.
Makes sense such an investor would expect to have veto power over changing the fundamental nature of the corporation.
