Today, I got my doctorate. I started it back in 2009. Took a year out in 2010 because I was diagnosed with dyslexia. Was then diagnosed with ADHD & autism - took a further 5 years out. And now, all of 15 years later, I finally got it. Hardest thing I’ve ever done. Never give up!

I had a writer - that I don't know - send me his novel. He asked me to look at it. I did, free and gratis. I read it the way a literary agent would. It wasn't ready. His reply was to defend every edit: every overuse of adjective and adverb, every spelling mistake. Never again!

@ShannonSavvas Aigh! I'm sorry to hear that, Shannon. Life gets in the way of our vocation sometimes. You'll be back better and stronger. I wish you a speedy recovery from both Covid and the knee replacement. A good writer told me silence is good. But it's hell going through it.

I was writing almost daily for 25 years, a career writer, got Covid in January 22. My GP sent me to hospital. I stopped writing for 2 years. But I’ve started again. Baby steps. Thank you God 🙏

@lapis_lazuli11 If you're sending an 'idea' then the agent has nothing to go on apart from your following. I wouldn't pitch anything until I'd completed an absolutely nailed final draft - professionally edited. If the writing and/or story is good enough then they wont even ask about a platform.

Does anyone know what a "large platform" counts as? Admittedly, I didn't mention my OTHER Twitter to this agent -- where I have 5.8k followers -- but I suspect that even that wouldn't be enough of a "fully-developed platform". Thoughts? How many followers is "enough"?
