@end3of6days9 Not an Uber, but I pay $2.70 to ride the train from the burbs to downtown Denver because I refuse to pay $35.00 at Ball Arena to park. Just paid an outrageous amount of money for tickets to the game and you want to gouge me for parking on top of it.

This guy lands at LaGuardia, checks Uber, and gets hit with a over $100+ charge for a 15-minute ride to his apartment. Instead of paying it, he chooses public transportation for just $3 and films the entire journey: free bus from the airport, two subway transfers, stairs, and a final walk. Timestamps show every step — he makes it home and dramatically collapses on his bed in exactly 1 hour. Sometimes the “inconvenient” option saves you a fortune (and can even be kind of fun if you roll with it). He’d rather spend an extra hour traveling than hand over $100... and I don't blame him. Have you ever ditched a crazy-expensive Uber/taxi for public transit to save money, or what’s the wildest surge price you’ve ever seen?

No ifs ands or buts about it. Total dud of a rain forecast for Denver and most of the metro area. Storm stayed too far south, just couldn’t quite get upslope going. Still, a drought-helper for southern Colorado. As always, lessons to learn and room to grow. #COwx

Build the Ballroom Trump deserves a Purple Heart for being wounded in action. A third would-be assassin attempted but failed to kill him Saturday night. As you know the deeply troubling event happened on live television. Thankfully this time neither the President nor any of the attendees was hurt. As he did during and following all three attempts, the President responded with true cool and courage. I was proud of him, and of the security folks who stopped the assailant, and ushered the President and his Cabinet to safety. Typically, our master showman didn’t miss a beat. As soon as it was clear he had not been hurt, he proposed restarting the show. I tweeted about the events as they unfolded. “Trump wanted to show to go on because he has balls. He, the first lady, and everyone else is safe. Someone is in custody. Trump wanted the show to go on because he doesn't want the bad guys to win.” The deranged gunman was captured in the act, and was shortly identified as Cole Allen, a 31-year-old California teacher who sent his family a manifesto 10 minutes before Saturday’s attack. In his bizarre rant he apologizes ‘to his parents, colleagues and students and to all who suffered before I was able to attempt this…’ From my point of view, I was also relieved that the shooter was neither Latino nor an immigrant, two groups recently singled out by activists for disproportionate criticism. “Fuck the assailant. Still, unnerving that a punk managed to penetrate our formidable security apparatus. Questions to answer, but thankfully all are safe.” Wife Erica and I have attended at least a half dozen of these grand events. Playfully called The Nerd Prom, the White House Correspondents Dinner gives journalists and celebrity guests a chance to mingle with presidents and potentates. I have had the honor of dining with Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, rocker Jon Bon Jovi and Astronaut Buzz Aldrin among others. We were there in 2011 when my old pal Donald Trump was cruelly ridiculed by Barak Obama for his then just announced presidential ambitions. But the reporters present at the ball are the true VIP’s. And talk about being in the right place at the right time, CNN’s old lion Wolf Blitzer was the man of the moment when the shots rang out. “CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer shaken but still coolly reporting the extraordinary peril the president and cabinet survived unscathed. A shooter inside one of the most secure areas on earth. It is a stunning event.” The aftermath of the event raised serious questions about safety for participants. Virtually the entire Cabinet was present, and it was deeply disturbing to ponder the possible loss of everyone from the President and First Lady to Vice President J.D. Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. They were all there, all potential targets in an old ballroom that is obviously difficult to protect. Which brings me to the $400 billion-dollar, monumental White House Ballroom advocated by the President, but held up in court. “Build the ballroom. I felt I was watching Designated Survivor. Virtually the entire line of presidential succession was in that lame Hilton space. Way too freaky dangerous. Build the Ballroom.” Build the Ballroom.

The Mammoth did not lose because of 1 bad call. Unfortunately, the only way to please some people is to exile these refs from the Playoffs. Can’t wait for the next time a team loses and it’s another person’s fault. 🔜

@deesnider Dee, some of us want to hear our favorites just one more time. If people want to perform, who gives a shit. They’re happy and engaged, the audience is happy and engaged. It’s a personal choice and that choice is none of anyone’s business. We might love you, but we don’t own you.

What’s happened to Susan Sarandon? Sarandon, once the sharp, no-nonsense Louise in Thelma & Louise—a defiant feminist icon who embodied strength, independence, and rebellion against societal norms—now presents a far more disheveled image at 79 that many observers describe as looking downright homeless. Her recent public appearances often feature mismatched layers, oversized or ill-fitting garments, casual sneakers …an overall rumpled vibe. Yuck!

I’m tired 😅 I need everyone to stop what you’re doing and read this. Tomorrow is going to be warm, it’s going to be windy, and yes, it’s going to be a high fire danger day. We’ve seen this before. I’m tired of the pattern, I’m tired of the drought, but more than anything, I’m tired of the clickbait and the fear mongering that circulates social media. Why is it that an independent meteorologist who built his own business has to be the voice of reason around here? Let me be very clear. This is not me downplaying the risk. This is me telling you that panic helps nobody. Fear helps nobody. When people panic, they make bad decisions. And right now, there are too many people being scared instead of being prepared. Social media is a powerful tool, it’s helped me build this business, but it’s also become a place where people struggle to tell the difference between what’s real and what’s exaggerated for attention. So here’s the deal for tomorrow: It’s warm. It’s windy. There is fire danger. It’s that simple. Instead of panicking, prepare. Have a plan. I’ve already made a post about it, it’s pinned at the top of my page. If you haven’t read it, go read it and take it seriously. Every place has its risks. Here, wildfire is one of ours, especially as more people move into the wildland-urban interface. We can’t control everything, and we can’t force people to make good decisions. We can’t legislate morality, but we can control how we respond. Take a breath. Slow down. Think logically. On this page, I choose education over fear, and I choose humor over panic. I’m not going to sacrifice that for clicks or attention. Ever. Because at the end of the day, I have people messaging me who are genuinely scared, and they shouldn’t be. And please stop asking me about a clickbait post you saw somewhere else. All you’re gonna do is piss me off. i’m sorry to be so blunt, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Please respect those boundaries. So let’s keep this simple. Be aware. Be smart. Be prepared. And don’t let panic make decisions for you. By the way, with the help of AI, and I don’t need a lecture from people on the use of it, I made this really awesome graphic and I have saved this template for future use. So anytime I need to push out important information, you are gonna see a template very, very similar to this and you’ll know that it came from me. We’re gonna be fine. This too shall pass. Remember there are colder temperatures and chances for precipitation coming. We just have to get through tomorrow first.
