Wrapping up our National Girls and Women in Sports celebration is Debbie Falcon!
Debbie truly loves what she does both professionally and personally. She has worked at a prominent law firm since 1986, a journey that began in the early 1980s as a single mother of two attending community college while working part time. With the support of family and friends, she worked her way from part-time file closer to legal assistant/paralegal, where she proudly serves today.
Now, 39 years later, she is happily married, a mother of four, grandmother of 22, and great-grandmother to six, all active in sports.
Sports have always been a central part of Debbie’s life. She played from age 10 through high school and continued co-ed softball until 40, later serving as a coach, league officer, and league president. She joined PONY Softball in 2002 and now serves as South Zone Division Director and a member of the International Board of Directors.
For Debbie, nothing compares to seeing young athletes grow in confidence and celebrate their success.
Thank you for all that you do for PONY Baseball and Softball, Debbie!

Stephanie serves PONY Baseball and Softball in many roles, including on the International Board of Directors, Corporate Secretary, Chairman of the PONY Softball Committee, and North Zone Softball Director. She also made history as the first woman to serve on our Executive Committee.
She began her career as an elementary school teacher in her hometown of Herrin, Illinois where she has proudly served her local school district for over 25 years. She now serves as Athletic Director and Assistant Principal, becoming the first female Athletic Director in her school’s history. She is a strong advocate for women’s sports and a champion for athletics at all levels.
She is grateful for National Girls and Women in Sports Day for celebrating the historic milestones that continue to create meaningful opportunities for young girls and women across the United States.

Today, we proudly celebrate 75 years of PONY Baseball and Softball!
Seventy-five years ago today, members of the Welfare and Recreation Committee met with Mayor Wilson and Councilmen Goodridge and Shrontz in the Conference Room of the Observer Publishing Company to discuss the creation of a baseball league for boys who had outgrown Little League. That conversation sparked what would become the Pony League. A dedicated group of leaders stepped forward to shape the league’s future, including Lew Hays, William E. Amos, J. Howard Ware, John Sorice, Morris Weber, and Paul S. Shearn. Many went on to serve on the Board of Directors, helping it grow far beyond its roots. Within the first year, the founders established the league’s initial age group, 13- and 14-year-olds, developed its constitution, and named George Mucey chairman. They also announced that the first Pony League field would be laid out in Washington City Park.
