@hekenberg @jfsrev @finviz_com Honestly, you are not far from correct. I personally have studied a lot of the stocks from the previous squeeze. The truth is that unless you follow the price action with fundamental values that should be much of a stock, it's really bad to stay on just the short interest alone
English

Stocks with high short interest get a lot of attention. Most of it is wrong.
The thesis that high short interest means a squeeze is coming misses two things.
First, the shorts are short for a reason. High short interest signals that something in the company is broken or believed to be broken. The smart money on the other side has done work that retailers probably have not. Front-running them is betting against their research with none of your own.
Second, even if a squeeze is coming, the move only matters when buyers actually show up and take control. Until then it is a melting position waiting for a catalyst that may never arrive.
My rule is simple. I take a high short interest name only after a clean breakout to the upside on real volume. The breakout is the buyers announcing themselves. Before that all I have is hope. And hope does not move price. Squeezes happen.
They happen after the chart confirms, not before.

Top 18 companies with short interest of 30% or higher by @finviz_com are concentrated in AI, semiconductors, and data center infrastructure.
They can produce the most violent squeezes when liquidity and narrative align.
