Ahead of #NVW2026, we reached out to volunteers with one simple question “Why is volunteering at Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre important to you?". Here is what Amal and Renée shared.

Yesterday, we welcomed Premier Doug Ford, along with MPP George Darouze and Scott Phelan from the Premier’s Office. The visit provided an important opportunity to highlight how community‑based primary care supports patients and strengthens the broader health system. #Ontario

For over 20 years, Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre has offered free income tax clinics to eligible clients and community members through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). We are deeply grateful for our volunteers that make this happen. #NVW

While we strive every day to show our gratitude and appreciation for our volunteers, National Volunteer Week provides an opportunity to further elevate their incredible contributions and make their impact more visible to the public. We will share stories this week!

Kudos to the team at Winthrop Court Community House for planning a lovely Easter lunch and bingo for adults in the neighborhood. Everyone enjoyed homemade, freshly prepared spaghetti, and there were lots of smiles as participants happily won Bingo prizes. #Easter #Celebration

Ontario has opened a new Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub in West Ottawa to improve access to recovery and treatment services for individuals and families facing #MentalHealth and substance use challenges. news.ontario.ca/en/release/100… @PQCHC @PSOannounce

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day to celebrate and raise awareness. At Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre (PQCHC), we are committed to creating safe, inclusive, and affirming spaces for transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals.

Today at Winthrop Court Community House we celebrated International Women’s Day during our women’s group session. Participants shared messages to inspire other women—offering courage, strength, hope, and meaningful connection. #IWD26

Congratulations to Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre (WOCRC) for hosting another successful Coldest Night of the Year #cnoy! The turnout was fantastic, the weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and the community came together to support an important cause.

Today is National Pink Shirt day. It is a day to raise awareness about the devastating effects of bullying and to promote kindness, inclusion, and respect. At PQCHC, we are committed to creating safe and inclusive spaces for all our clients, volunteers, students, and staff.

Last week, #Youth , #educators, community partners, and leaders gathered for Youth Voices in Education, an evening that centered the leadership and lived expertise of African, Caribbean, Black (ACB) and Newcomer youth who are helping reimagine what education can and should be.
