April 8: HDLC denied demolition of Joe Victor’s Saloon in Tremé—one of just three remaining Storyville structures. A culturally significant site tied to the birth of jazz, it now needs to be secured and restored. Eligible for Historic Tax Credits. tinyurl.com/4urz83pe

In Tremé, HDLC denied the demolition of 929 N. D’orgenois St. Built by Jules Badue and briefly owned by Isidore Newman, the HDLC found the house was deteriorated but structurally intact and can be rehabilitated. Full recap: tinyurl.com/2hzcn5wu

A 170-year-old landmark at St. Charles Avenue and Gravier Street is now protected for generations to come. The historic Bank of Louisiana building has been added to the Preservation Resource Center’s preservation easement program.
