@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam It’s better to make a wrong decision than to make no decision at all. Even in SA, where the govt has provided a lot, people still protest and complain that foreigners are taking their jobs, showing that citizens can remain dissatisfied regardless of what ever is done for them.

Akwaibom Ibom State just Launched its New International Airport Terminal.. Smart Investment or Another Expensive Flex?? Let’s have it..

I returned from the maiden international flight from Accra to Uyo with a deep sense of joy at what we have achieved with the Victor Attah International Airport. This will open up more opportunities in tourism, trade, and investment, and make it easier for us to connect with other countries within the sub-region. It also puts Uyo in a strong position to host more conferences and business activities. To give this sector greater focus, I have directed the creation of a standalone Ministry of Aviation and Airport Development, and have appointed Engr. Uwem Ekanem to oversee the ministry pending the appointment of a substantive Commissioner. @ibomairlines will also receive a new Airbus A220 in June as we continue to expand our fleet and strengthen our aviation capacity. I appreciate His Excellency, @officialABAT President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Honourable Minister of Aviation, @fkeyamo Festus Keyamo, SAN, for their support. I also acknowledge past leaders who laid the foundation for this achievement. We will continue to build on this progress and ensure it brings real value to our people.

@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam They’re not running on losses, Akwa Ibom has electricity. Just because Abia may have more doesn’t mean AKS has none. In fact, Akwa Ibom is working to solve its power challenges once and for all. Abia can’t compete, so don’t even mention it in the same sentence as Akwa Ibom.

@PRESIDO_X @AbasienoSam I think Abia state having a steady power supply and basic infrastructure will attract far more foreign direct investment in quantum than AkwaIbom state having an airport and an airline who's book if properly audited is running at a lost. This tourism thing is always a lost cause

@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam Many of us have capital to invest, but when we don’t see real potential, we take that investment elsewhere. Will be going to Ghana for leisure once flights are available, simply bcus it a direct flight. The cost of traveling there is almost the same as going to Lagos from Uyo.

@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam An international airport would also be a priority, as it makes it easier for investors to visit, recognize opportunities, and create jobs in the state. Government cannot drive development alone, it needs to attract and enable private investment.

Yesterday, I joined His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno @_PastorUmoEno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, on board Ibom Air for the maiden international flight from Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, to Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana. The flight officially marks the launch of international operations at the new international wing of the airport, following approval from the Federal Government. This milestone positions Akwa Ibom State as a rising hub for regional and global air connectivity.

@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam And remember, that airport isn’t just for Akwa Ibom residents, it’s meant to serve people across the South-South, South-East, and Nigeria as a whole who can afford to travel by air. So let’s keep things in perspective and be respectful.

@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam Airports aren’t built for everyone, and that’s okay, traveling by air isn’t a must. A large percentage of people around the world have never left their cities or countries. Here in Akwa Ibom, there are many of us who can afford to travel globally.

@civil_servantT @AbasienoSam Lol… not everyone is in your situation. The last time I traveled to Lagos by road was in 2014, and that was only because I was in a state without an airport. Since then, I’ve flown locally more times than I can count, and I take international trips at least four times a year.

How many times have you been to the airport before in a year, probably never, but you're here constituting nuisance just because the only thing you can be proud is a state that has an international airport.

@AIRGAIN1 @Playl0va We’re saying the same thing, but that’s not what’s happening there. Instead, they’re arguing over which LGA owns the land and who BUA/govt should negotiate with. The govt shouldn’t take sides but should instead step in and settle and resolve the dispute between both LGA.
