As someone who works in Video Game marketing I have a few thoughts on this and what could have happened: 1) Fuck generative ai. 2) Love and Deepspace official handle on TikTok does not have an "_en" attached to the end like the handle this AI ad is from. The official handle is "loveanddeepspace". Links in case you want to see: Official TikTok: @loveanddeepspace" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tiktok.com/@loveanddeepsp… TikTok this ad came from. @loveanddeepspace_en" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tiktok.com/@loveanddeepsp… So this could either be one of two things: A) LADS marketing team hired a media agency to distribute their ads on social platforms and they made a different identity to post those ads from - thus you will sometimes online see the user handles are different from the actual official handles and this could be their English/Western distributor, thus the "_en" at the end of the handle. B) This isn't actually made by the LADS official team. Earlier this year TikTok specifically got rid of the ability to use custom identities. What this means is if you want to advertise for an IP (Developer/Publisher/Specific Game/Series etc) you would have to get permission from the account holders to advertise from their identity. This also means when people click on the "user" that the ad is posted from it would direct to the official page thus is a more cohesive user journey. For an IP as big as LADS I highly doubt they would be stupid enough to have their ads use a handle identity different front their official one after the change, especially as all other ads do use the official page to advertise and boost posts from. Which is where I am sceptical of whoever is putting out these ads. That said, when the ads are clicked through to it apparently directs to the official LADS page in appstore which is concerning. (Unless in the unlikely situation this is not the LADS advertising agency, someone is using LADS to gain targeting data??? Odd). This advertisers image of the official logo with Rafayel's visage is also blurrier (if this is an advertising agency, guys request a higher quality asset please this is not helping how your client looks on top of this wonky pathetic excuse of an ad.) 3) TikTok has also added an advertising feature where creators can give permission for their voice and likeness to be used in Al generated ads, which essentially means they cut out the middle men of having to go through the standard procedure of having User Generated content made. There is also TikTok Symphony where you can take specific images or assets together to generate an ad, so generative ai ads are actually sadly something the platform also supports. Personally I hate this, but this could also be what's happened. I would report this to Customer Service either way, both for the generative Al just in case it is them but also for if it is someone else using the game for other means. If it is them then it is a shit way to market the game and advise them to use real User Generated Content in future. My own POV to generative ai is that I hate it and it is a blight on this Earth and to creativity and I hate what it has done to creative IP's and advertising. Force companies to acknowledge how much it cheapens their IP's, so do NOT let this slide if this is their marketers work, and if it is not then the LADS teams should know either way.
