ఇప్పటివరకు సింగరేణిలో కోటి రూపాయల ప్రమాద బీమా పథకాన్ని అమలు చేస్తున్న యూనియన్ బ్యాంక్ సింగరేణి యాజమాన్యం చేసిన సూచనల మేరకు సహజ మరణం చెందిన కార్మికులకు కూడా ఉచిత బీమా సౌకర్యాన్ని కల్పించాలని నిర్ణయించింది. యూనియన్ బ్యాంకులో కార్పోరేట్ శాలరీ అకౌంటు కలిగి ఉన్న కార్మికులు లేదా అధికారులు ఎవరైనా సరే మృతి చెందినట్లయితే వారికి పది లక్షల రూపాయల బీమా సౌకర్యాన్ని వర్తింప జేస్తూ నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నట్లు సింగరేణి సంస్థకు బ్యాంకు యాజమాన్యం తెలియజేసింది. సింగరేణి సంస్థ ఛైర్మన్ మరియు ఎండీ డాక్టర్ బుద్దప్రకాష్ జ్యోతి ఆదేశాల మేరకు డైరెక్టర్ పర్సనల్ మరియు ఫైనాన్సు శ్రీ గౌతమ్ పోట్రు ప్రత్యేక చొరవ ఫలితంగా యూనియన్ బ్యాంకు యాజమాన్యం ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. ఏప్రిల్ ఒకటో తేదీ నుంచి ఇది అమలులోకి రానున్నట్లు బ్యాంకు యాజమాన్యం పేర్కొంది. 2024 లో రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం చొరవతో సింగరేణి కార్మికులకు ఉచిత కోటి రూపాయల ప్రమాద బీమా పథకాన్ని యూనియన్ బ్యాంకు అమలు జరిపింది. ఈ ఒప్పందానికి కొనసాగింపుగా సహజ మరణానికి కూడా 10 లక్షల రూపాయల బీమాను వర్తింపజేస్తూ నిర్ణయించినట్లు యూనియన్ బ్యాంకు అధికారులు పేర్కొన్నారు. ఇతర ఇన్సూరెన్స్ కంపెనీలలో 10 లక్షల బీమా పాలసీ తీసుకోవాలంటే కనీసం ఐదు వేలకు పైగా చెల్లించాల్సి ఉంటుంది. అయితే సింగరేణి యాజమాన్యం తీసుకున్న ప్రత్యేక చొరవ వల్ల ఒక్క పైసా కూడా చెల్లించాల్సిన అవసరం లేకుండా యూనియన్ బ్యాంకు సహజ మరణానికి 10 లక్షల బీమా పథకాన్ని అమలు జరిపింది. దీనిపై సర్వత్ర హర్షం వ్యక్తం అవుతున్నది. కాగా సింగరేణి సంస్థలో కోటి రూపాయల ఉచిత ప్రమాద బీమా సౌకర్యాన్ని అమలు జరుపుతున్న ఇతర బ్యాంకులు కూడా ఇదే విధంగా సహజ మరణానికి కూడా బీమా సౌకర్యాన్ని వర్తింప జేసే విధంగా సింగరేణి యాజమాన్యం చొరవ తీసుకుంటోంది.
