As digital health systems expand across the Global South, questions of who controls data, whose knowledge counts, and who ultimately benefits remain urgent.
In this policy analysis, Ahaki-affiliated Authors critically examine Uganda’s digital health data ecosystem, advancing a case for governance frameworks that are inclusive, equitable, and decolonised. The article calls for approaches grounded in local realities, accountable to communities, and aligned with principles of health justice.
This contribution adds to global debates on digital sovereignty, power, and ethics in health data systems, while offering practical pathways for reform in low and middle-income country contexts.
