A comprehensive household budget survey in #Puntland has revealed crucial data covering demographics, household characteristics, health, education, income, expenditure, and more. 🔹️In Puntland, household demographics show an average household size of 6.8, with 52.4% females. The young dependent population is 53%, and 90.6% lack identification documents, emphasizing the need for better documentation efforts. 🔹️Education indicators highlight a 49.6% literacy rate and disparities in school enrollment. However, a notable 58.3% of the population lacks any formal education. When it comes to school enrollment, the net attendance ratio of the secondary schools is relatively low at 16.6% compared to primary at 32.4 %. 🔹️Disability prevalence is 8.4%, with common chronic diseases including blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney diseases. Access to medical care is a concern. 🔹️Water, energy, and sanitation services accessibility face challenges. Access to electricity varies across regions, with rural and nomadic areas having less access. Access to improved water sources decreases during dry seasons. 🔹️Labor force participation is at 21.9%, with only 18.8% employment and a 14% unemployment rate, highest among youth. Female participation is consistently lower. 🔹️Food security is a serious concern, with a majority of households experiencing issues such as skipping meals and going hungry. Aid, remittances, and mobile phone usage are prevalent, but access to bank accounts is relatively low, especially in rural and nomadic areas. About six out of ten households (60.4%) were unable to eat healthy and nutritious food; around half of the households (56%) ate only a few kinds of food; 53.1% had to skip at least one meal; 52.4% ate less than they thought they should; 51.6% were worried they would not have enough food to eat; 48.6% ran out of food; 46.0% experienced going hungry, and 42.9% of the population in Puntland went to bed without having a meal for an entire day on at least one occasion during the month preceding the survey date. #Puntland #Somalia
