It’s been a while since our last post on X, but this seemed worthy of a mention. Police 45 took advantage of the good weather today to slot in some mountain flying training in the Mournes after completing a task…quite the view!

Yesterday our crew were heading out to do some training between call outs and got to see the impressive Antonov aircraft taking off. The crew is up to date with their training and ready for whatever the weekend had in store!

This year, the Air Support Unit produced a calendar with some of the pictures they took throughout 2025 in support of @CancerFundChild, raising £1114.82 for this excellent charity. On New Years Day we had some of the charity up for a tour and to hand over the cheque.

Today we assisted @NIFRSOFFICIAL in assessing the current situation with the fires in the Mournes. Bear in mind this isn’t even all of the devastation the fires have caused.

Police46 has been busy today assisting @NIFRSOFFICIAL to get an overview of the current wildfire situation. Earlier today the helicopter attended the Mournes to lift members of the fire service, and this evening we assisted fire service at Ballygawley. @PSNIMidUlster

Assisted our colleagues in @PSNIFermOmagh yesterday, which included a transit over the Sperrins. Quite a lot of trees down, possibly the result from Storm Éowyn. Now with Storm Herminia on the way, please take care.

@benmel44 Our helicopter crews carry buoyant smoke and floatation devices. If people are in distress in the water we can drop the smoke to help identify them and floatation devices to help them until they are rescued. We can also drop the smoke to help our pilots when landing if required.

@PSNIAirSupport You’ll have to forgive me but what is “dropping of articles training”. I even went away and looked at a CAA page about it and it might as well have been in Sanskrit. What would you be dropping and in what circumstances?

Today our observers and pilot were squeezing in valuable dropping of articles training between operational tasks, practising skills we hope we never have to use. Stay safe.

P45 were on task this afternoon supporting colleagues in @PSNINMDown following a Road traffic collision in the area of the Mourne Mountains. Please continue to exercise caution on the roads when out and about.
