My autistic son has needed a doctor's apptment for some weeks but couldn't work the app, so he walked to the surgery to make an apptment IN PERSON. They turned him away, saying it has to be done on the app. So we're back to square one. Modern life has become anti-human. 🙄

#Oliverscampaign Since my accident last week, my hair simply had to be washed This was Tom’s first attempt at washing & drying it & let’s just say there were moments where I feared I might come out looking like I’d stuck my finger in a plug socket To be fair he did a good job

Backed by £200m, we’re rolling out the biggest SEND teacher training programme ever — with SEND training required for every teacher. As @jamieoliver helped shine a light on, our amazing teachers need the right training to support every child with SEND. And that's what we'll do.
Jamie Oliver@jamieoliver

A very welcome announcement from the Secretary of State for Education @bphillipsonMP this evening - She is committing to proper training for new teachers to get better support and outcomes for children from Sep 2025. This is a start. #ComeOnBridget

@DrHuw @thatsnotmine125 Recent Leader report showed improvement in avoidable deaths, perhaps due to training, but concludes rate is still almost double that of general pop. Plus near misses & poor experience. Dismissing training intended to help shows there’s problem 🥺

@pspicer01 @thatsnotmine125 More mandatory training is not the answer to statistically-rare tragic events Staff have no respect or buy-in for an ever-increasing public sector mandatory training burden This method of punitive enforced ‘learning’/‘reflection’ does not work & does not alter outcomes

Pretty much all mandatory training is utterly pointless It exists to protect the employer Modules are now used as a knee-jerk reaction/punishment for statistically-rare events Like corporate DEI or wellbeing: of zero benefit to employees
Shivani Misra@ShivaniM_KC

look i know someone will be upset i am saying this but the stat mand training where you can't just do the assessment but have to sit through video, after video after click on the right answer hell... is particularly egregious i feel like the IT people who designed this type of training need to be unfriended

@DrHuw @thatsnotmine125 Well it’s good to see how little you care for people with Learning Disabilities & Autistic people that you don’t see the need to learn anything from them face to face. A patient isn’t a thing who comes along your conveyor belt asleep. This post shows why you need training.

@Montyburnout123 @PaulaMc007 Good to know you see people with a learning disability & autistic people as an interest group. Best to leave it there. I don’t have to make the case/persuade you, the law is clear, this training was co-developed, co-evaluated & must be co-delivered & must be done.

@pspicer01 @PaulaMc007 I completely agree that Trusts should review mandatory training and remove that which adds no value. The difficulty is that every single-interest group thinks their training is vital.

@Montyburnout123 @PaulaMc007 It can be covered by study leave or the Tryst can review the long list of training they deem mandatory & create space for a statutory day. Either way the training is a legal requirement.

@pspicer01 @PaulaMc007 I’m not against training but I do object to interventions that have no evidence. If I wanted to introduce a treatment for use in people with LD you’d be enraged if I did so without any evidence of its efficacy. Mandatory training is not covered by study leave.

@Montyburnout123 @PaulaMc007 Given the number of avoidable deaths & poor outcomes why are you against training? People with a LD & Autistic people deserve better, it shouldn’t have needed a law, but legally they have to complete it.Consultants gets paid study days already costed, use 1 of those every 3 yrs.

@pspicer01 @PaulaMc007 The cost of taking a consultant out of service for a day will be considerably more than pennies. Pay cost alone will be £450-£550 plus all the lost productivity, and the cost of training. Were any of the pilots published in a peer-reviewed journal?

@Montyburnout123 @PaulaMc007 The training is a stat legal requirement, based on yrs of avoidable deaths & poor outcomes. It costs pennies & NICE index doesn’t fit. Evidence gained through independent review of pilots was it improved outcomes, hence Govt & DHSC endorse it. Hope that helps.

@pspicer01 @PaulaMc007 Unfortunately that’s not how NHS funding works. For example, NICE use a figure of £20,000-£30,000 per QALY. The cost should always be assessed against at the outcome. First step is deciding if there is any evidence the intervention affects the outcome.

#Oliverscampaign Oh my goodness, I feel sick to my stomach He has said it out loud. This is exactly why we must NOT have the Assisted Dying Bill in our country Our most vulnerable are NOT safe
Right To Life UK@RightToLifeUK

Lord Falconer says people with “learning difficulties or autism” could, with “proper assistance”, access assisted suicide. That should alarm every Peer in the Lords. Vulnerable people don’t need help to die. They need support to live.

@BritishGas can you DM me so we can urgently resolve a matter of your causing. We have tried to engage with your BG service team who are clearly AI, haven’t got a clue & are not capable of resolving our serious issue. Should we refer this to the energy ombudsman instead?
