Teachers' unions have long played a critical role in Parent Teacher Home Visits. Local collaboration with union partners is a core readiness metric we use when considering a group’s application to be trained. We credit our longevity, sustainability, and the long-term integrity of our work to the dynamic support of our union partners. In honor of #WomensHistoryMonth, we want to take a moment to appreciate teachers' unions for their support of #PTHV by recognizing @rweingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). As the head of one of the largest teachers' unions in the country, Randi's support for family-school partnerships, especially by means of visiting families in their homes, has immense influence and value. #PTHV would not exist as we know it without the hard work of incredibly strong, passionate, and intelligent women, such as Co-Founders, Yesenia Ramirez and Jocelyn Graves. Under the leadership of equally inspiring women, like @andreaprejean, Gina Martinez-Keddy, and Carrie Rose, PTHV has grown from a grassroots project into a nationally recognized #FamilyEngagement organization. Not only does our entire staff identify as women, so does much of our training team. Furthermore, PTHV's Board of Directors is dominated by successful women. We can't let the first week of #WomensHistoryMonth conclude without recognizing that. And what better way to do so than by spotlighting recently appointed Board Chair, Shital C. Shah, a senior advisor at @UnitedWay. We are grateful for her leadership and support over the years!
