@SportstalkR @kyhighs What about the kids who don’t have transportation? Parents working can’t take kids to practice. And what if an individual parent thinks it’s not safe, is that kid then punished for not attending practice? Let’s have some common sense. Keep people safe. It’s just basketball.

@kyhighs NTI is still doing assignments from home. So if the school is going to make a kid learn from home, why can't they let parents make a decision on if it's safe enough to get their kids to practice? You're not putting sports above education, they're still doing school work from home

Without getting into some socioeconomic discussion ... the private schools are practicing. I bet some of those kids live in the same neighborhoods as JCPS kids who aren't practicing. My point: Don't make a blanket "You can't practice" declaration. Some teams might say no. Some kids might not can make it. But for the ones who can, let them play.

@digitalefxwraps @kyhighs Slow your roll. Just because I don’t coach “competitive ball” doesn’t mean I’m not familiar with youth sports. I have been involved with youth sports in different roles for the overwhelming majority of my life. And by the way, I’m pretty good at “blowing that whistle”.

@kyhighs I said yesterday " why can't teams have Practice if they make it non mandatory " ?. Those that can make it safely do. Those that can't aren't punished. One would think this would released JCPS from any liability but I'm probably wrong

@kyhighs At least the players will have some time for rest and recovery. This is very much an overlooked aspect in athletics. And I’m sure many of these players have been working out in their own.

So it will be 9 straight days of no practice for JCPS teams … because of 6 inches of snow.

Maybe the game still has to be abandoned, who knows. But getting the coaches to deal with their respective spectators is the right thing to do.

Pretty sure nobody would want to take that abuse for free. And by the way, he’s wearing about $100 worth uniform (jersey, socks, shorts).
