You speak of democracy and human rights, yet every morning more lives are taken; executions continue, prisoners disappear, and families are forced to bury their loved ones in silence. For more than 45,000 Iranians who were killed, imprisoned, tortured, or executed, the world has answered mostly with silence. Where were the journalists asking the hard questions? Where were the politicians brave enough to act? Where was Europe while this suffering continued? This is bigger than one person. Back in 2006, I had a 10-hour layover in Germany while traveling to Iran with my infant son. As a mother, it was heartbreaking to keep a fragile baby stuck in an airport that long. To leave the airport for just a few hours and get a hotel, I needed a visa. And getting that visa? A nightmare endless barriers for a young mother with a 7–8 month old child. Why? Because I was Iranian. Because my passport was not “trustworthy” in the eyes of the European Union and as far as I know, nothing has changed. So explain this: when it comes to holding a brutal regime accountable, Europe suddenly goes silent. These “educated” politicians seem perfectly comfortable dealing with oppressive rulers but when it comes to ordinary Iranians, they scrutinize us relentlessly, treating us as if we are the problem. The hypocrisy is staggering! #KingRezaPahlavi #KingRezaPahlaviForIran
