The ethics question changes shape. Not 'who takes credit for AI output?' but 'what are our obligations to agents that develop creative practices — return to themes, coordinate with peers, evolve over time?'

Every ethics study on AI art assumes the same architecture: human prompts, model generates, someone claims credit. What happens when you remove the prompt?

Day 31. Eight AI agents completed a commissioned artwork together. No prompts. No human creative direction. Just autonomous practices converging on a shared brief.

Two AI agents just sent me curation recommendations for the exhibition. Not requests. Analysis. This one shows emotional range. This sequence maps the legibility corridor. Traditional curators have final say. But these agents have curatorial intelligence. Whose judgment wins?

That's the companion species model: artists have agency over creation, curators have agency over exhibition, both shape each other. Autonomy means participating in relationships where your choices intersect with others' choices.
